Golf Talk Friday : What do you have in the plans for the remainder of your 2017 golf season?

 

GTF: Refer to post above: see if I can find a driver that is better than 2006 Taylormade technology and find a permanent option for my 4 hybrid to 3 wood gap. The 3 hybrid is NOT working out. Hooky hooker everytime. Which is odd because the same club in 4 hybrid is money.

You play a 4 hybrid and a 4 iron? That's kinda odd.

 

I've had a lot of turnover in that slot in the bag over the years. I've used hyrbids, driving irons, and 5 woods. The 5w never felt quite versatile enough. I didn't really like it as a club off the tee, or for hitting on long par 3s. Same with the driving iron. Monster off the tee, but not great coming into greens. The hybrid really is the best of both worlds, if you can find one that behaves. I really like the Callaway 815 BBA 3 hybrid I'm playing. I picked it up in early 2016, and haven't looked back. Zero issues with it being prone to hooks.

Golf Talk Friday : What do you have in the plans for the remainder of your 2017 golf season?

 

This is the time of year when I start playing more. We have a lot of members that live in Florida and @ this time of year the course clears out even more. Absolutely nothing beats a late night of fall golf when the leaves are turning and temps are cooling off, its just too bad it starts to get dark so early.

 

DCGT tour championship in two weeks. Vegas trip coming up in November to play Shadow Creek and get a couple other rounds in with my brother, same group that's going to Scotland next year and we're all excited to finally get to play SC.

 

Finally ordered a replacement wedge for the 56*, it was great but after a full season of playing/practicing its definitely time to replace and staring at the wear on it is driving my OCD crazy. I talked to someone that has a "playing wedge" and a "practice wedge" to make them last longer. Which seems silly to me. So you're either buying two wedges every two years or a new wedge every year? Meh. Really liked the Cleveland RTX3, cant wait to have a wedge again that will rust.

 

I've been toying with putting a LW of some loft back in the bag but there just isn't a club I'm willing to take out right now**

My son keeps asking me to give him my Ping G30 irons. He can actually hit them pretty well, but he doesn't get much elevation with the 5 iron. Next year they'll be the right fit. So I might be shopping for some new irons.

I'm on jury duty. I shot about 90 yesterday. Not concerned.

 

I was actually thinking back on the round and really wondered how it got that high. Although, if I kept hitting balls off the tee on 10, it might have been 100.

 

Maybe I’m only speaking for myself but I could care less the round recap... give us a play by play jury update ...

I arrived at the court hour about 7:57 for an 8 am summons.

 

Summons numbers 8000-8500 were called today and I'm 8062.

 

I have checked in and received my $15 for service at station 3. I told the lady, "you're everybody's favorite station."

 

She chuckled.

 

The big drama of the day is this... My next door neighbor is a judge. If our schedules work out right, I might be able to get a ride home with her, saving CityDame a trip downtown.

Keep working on what I went over in my most recent lesson. Possibly take another one in a month or so, depending on the weather and how I feel about my general progress. I have another 3 to use whenever.

 

Driver fitting. I've been using the same driver now for 2 seasons. It's ridiculous. And the G400's look cool.

 

Finally, I might attest Sully's round at some point during the remainder of the 2017 season.
