Hit the SCs yesterday, gorgeous iron. Better looking in person! Hitting it on the toe didn't 'sting' like smaller irons I have hit in the past. Great feel when well struck. If you are a good ball striker, I highly recommend giving these a try! ;)

How did they compare to the 900 tour's? Currently love mine but always looking for something new.

Has anyone noticed lower spin numbers than normal with the 18SC? I just hit the 6 iron 30* SC at PGA superstore on their GC2 launch monitor and it seems to be carrying about 16-18 yards longer than my current 6 iron which is a titleist 712 MB at 31* of loft that I usually carry around 186. I thought this was odd so we looked at the spin numbers and my spin rate never broke 5,000 with the SC. It had the standard s300 shaft. I don't think it was the monitor because I had been hitting driver on it and my numbers were pretty spot on for me. I'm usually a pretty high spin player with my irons. Any similar experiences?

I also love Srixons, but I do not find them any longer than Mizzys in the same lofts. If the 765 seems a half-club longer, it is because they are lofted a half-club longer. 765 6

Iron is 28 degrees vs 30 degrees in MP5. A full club is 4 degree gaps.

I do not find Mizunos to be shorter at all. They have traditional lofts, which I like as I'm not left with yardage gaps from inside 125 yards. I don't ever buy irons for distance, the higher the loft, the easier it is to hit, and I don't like to play 4 irons at 22 degrees. I play a 4 at 24 and either a hybrid or 7 wood at 21.

I found the MP5 easier to hit than the JPX 900 Tours and as easy as the 900 forged. It is pretty much a cavity back with smoother lines. The iron may have more of a filled in look, but it moves the weight around like a CB and to me swings like one. The Srixon 965, my current gamer, is a similar design and is also a forgiving MB. Playability of a CB with a MB look.

Would like to try the MP18 SC to see if it is similar, but the MMC is the one I am eyeing. As a former MP59 player -- a great design IMO -- I thought the tungsten insert forged into the clubhead felt solid and playable.

I found the same to be true. I normally play X100s and on the SC w/X100s they were spinning just barely over 5000 for the 6 iron. When I tried the KBS tour X and PX LZ 6.5 they were around 5600-5700.

Very similar - the MPs feel more solid. Similar head shapes. Equal forgiveness. Referring to the SC model

Great to hear the SC is on par with the J15 CB from a forgiveness standpoint. Have a set of the J15 CB just can't get over the larger size of the 8-PW.

Main reason I moved on from the J15CB after three seasons. The shovel-esque 9/P were unfortunate, otherwise flawless iron set

Shovel-esque is a bit of an exaggeration.... let's not forget 3 Tour Pros still use them. I still game them and they are softer then my MP-53s with equal or more forgiveness. The SCs are slightly less forgiving then the J15s in my experiences but very soft feel... as expected from an MP.

That said, you won't find a better feeling Player's CB with the forgiveness factor the J15 will give you.

Hey man I think they are a fantastic iron, but the 9/P are nearing the shovel end - put them up beside a 716/718CB and you'll see it. Im well aware tour pro's use them, guys also use i25's and CF16's. They can make anything work, I'm speaking from aesthetics only.

J15CB is one of the best irons I've ever used, but I stand by my statement that the 9 & P are a bit out of place in terms of overall size/shape.

Any low hc’s playing the MMC’s? I’m looking for a cheap used set of irons, and the mmc is both cheap and paired with my shaft of choice. I told myself going into this that I could play the SC, MMC, or 919T - it just depended on what was available. The only thing thst has me thinking twice about the MMC are the jacked lofts. Coming from MP33’s even the now standard 46* pw is strange, but a 28* 6 iron is basically a full club more than what I’m used to.

If you can get the number on the bottom of the club out of your head you could do some loft adjustments.

I recently switched from MP33's as well to a mix of MMC Fly Hi's 3-5, SC 6 and 18 7-9. I had the 4-9 weakened anywhere from 1-3 degrees to get consistent gaps.

My lofts on my set are 19, 23, 27, 31, 35, 40 and 45. I jump to a 50 Degree wedge from there and skip the set wedge.

I had a set of 919t 4-9 and just didn't like the offset (short irons mostly) or shaft (modus 120x). I returned them and got the mp 18's with 5-6 SC and 4 MMC. the MMC is easier to turn over in my experience and might feel a littler harder. I much prefer the SC and kind of wish I would have just gotten the 4 of the sc. The mmc 4 goes a little further and might be a little more forgiving but honestly I can't tell. The mmc spins slightly less too with the same shaft but nothing you'll notice on the course really. I too came from a 48 degree pitching wedge and i've added a 50 degree wedge and weakened my SW to 55. I feel in the long run having more options in the wedges is probably a good thing but so far i haven't fully gotten used to those clubs yet.

So I was able to tweak my mp 18s a bit to fit my game a bit better. Took them to the range yesterday (so happy there was a break in the weather) and hit the mp sc 6 iron vs my Nike vapor pro combo 6. The feel is totally different and the rare one I hit flush give some magic forged feel.

Definitely a fan and will keep in the bag. I even noticed the turf interaction was much smoother - even with the firm ground.

This is my 6 iron from GC2 @GolfGalaxy.As you can see, I'm in the same ball park looking at the spin rate.

I have to ask about this set up. How's the gapping throughout the set? Is it funky switching from 4 degree increments to 5 degree at the 7? This could be a possibility for me to allow me to carry my wedge preference and still have room for a club between longest iron and 3 wood.

Got a great deal on a barely used set of 18 SC’s with Modus 120. It’s a bit of a transition coming from MP33’s with S300’s that I played forever, but man is this a sweet combo.

One thing I wasn’t aware of was that Mizuno’s new standard length is now in line with the likes of Titleist, Ping etc...I’ve played 1/4” shorter Mizunos for the past 15 years, so I have to chop 1/4” off these.
