Long time pro v1x player

Hate the tp5x felt alittle firm(I can live with that ) but went along way especially off long irons , but doesn't spin much for me with any shot inside 100 yards

Tp5 regular ball feels great to me and spins a bunch , more than the pro v1x for me . Ballflight is alittle different and goes further with irons

Great all I think I will be replacing the v1x

Just my opinion and know that I like all 4 of these balls:

Prov1 and TP5 are close to the same ball. Only difference I can tell is that ProV1 has more spin (especially off driver) and TP5 feels softer.

ProV1x and TP5X close to the same. Again ProV1x spins more and TP5x feels slightly softer. The only other thing is that, for me, the TP5x has been the lowest launching ball off the driver that I've ever hit. I'm not saying it's ridiculously lower but enough that I notice. And it's as long as any ball I've ever hit.

B330 is my ball of choice but playing a casual afternoon round I played a TP5x and shot my best score ever.

I would have thought the tp5x would have launched higher off the driver than the tp5

I am looking for more spin on irons for height and landing angle (very low spin swing) - tp5 seems to do that better than the tp5x

how much longer do you think the tp5x is off the average driver is vs. the tp5?

appreciated

My SS is around 110. I personally didn't notice anything major as far as difference in distance for the most part. I've only hit the 2 balls in real world conditions/golf rounds so not a lot of exact numbers to compare. TP5x though has given me some of my longest. And for me, it comes off low.

That being said I enjoyed the TP5. I thought it did everything well and is overall as good/long as any premium ball out there.

What is the distance advantage of the 5x vs the 5 off driver/

I have a low spin swing and the tp5 is UNREAL for me off irons

Soft and controllable and stable off short irons and wedges

And great to putt with

I was playing a srixon xv until recently...long off driver, but irons low and hard

Not as big a fan of the 5x

How much am I giving up on driver?

Because the rest of the tp5 is off the charts

Thanks

Insight appreciated

I don't believe you're giving up any major distance at all. In fact, with a lower swing speed, the TP5 having more spin may benefit and be longer for you off the driver. Both are plenty long for me.

Not asking me but I think you'd like the 5 better than the x.

I'm in the 115 range and I will be playing the tp5 because of what it does in the short game and I found the 5x to be clicky and jumpy. It's longer by maybe 8 yards or so, but I'll give that up for the control in the short game. It's just much more predictable.

i felt the same when i tested them both and agree

irons in particular felt more control

just wanted to see / ask if i was giving up too much distance off the tee for that

I did the Prov1 testing and TP5 testing along with Callaway and Srixon and for me, the tp5 won. Flies a tad lower and just goes and goes and very workable around the greens too. Highly recommend them.

confused frankly with all these balls

prov1x said to fly higher,,,but prove spins more?

is it the same with tp5 and 5x?

isn't the one with more spin the one that flies higher?

so tp5 and prov are the ones that spin more, right?

off irons let's say

so they would produce higher ball flight for me then, right?

thanks

TP5 > Z-Star > ProV1
why? thanks

ProV1 is not good in the wind compared to these two. I think the Z-Star is the best in the wind with the TP5 a close second.

Driver performance goes to the TP5--Z-Star is right behind it, ProV1 won't match them (I think it probably spins more as it is a touch shorter and tends to curve more)

Iron performance is pretty equal, I just like the way the TP5 flies a bit higher.

Wedges--TP5/Z-star both consistent, I'll get the occasional ripper with the ProV1, especially into the wind.

Greenside goes to ProV1 but they are all close.

All very good balls. I loved this new ProV1 until I hit the other two. I still have a couple dozen ProV1's that will get played. FWIW I was an X player for years. Hate the new X (worst wind ball ever), XV felt like a rock, and I just didn't get enough control out of the TP5X.

Played the new ProV1 and B330s -- then moved to the TP5 (Not the X)--- prefer it to the other two...

57yr old - swing speed may get to 100MPh -- found the Talylormade longer than the other two (Although the B330s found more fairways)

Like the control on short irons and around the green - not much difference between the 3

Seems to Last longer than the B330s

I played maybe 20 state/USGA tourneys this year - better results with the B330s - have to figure that out...fairways found and maybe made more putts???

I played the back 9 with a tp5 yesterday. First impression was bad. It was super clicky. It felt hard. I normally play a ProV1x.

It was a really bad ball striking day for me so maybe that had something to do with it but my ProV1x felt normal for the first 9 holes.

I would give it a try again. I have not had one person say it was "Clicky". Most think it is one of the softest balls they have played.

I found the tp5 on the course that day. Hopefully I'll find another one. After 9 terrible holes with that ball I tossed it for someone else to try. Every shot off woods and irons feet hard. ProV1x and superhot 55 felt good that day.

I tested out the TP5, TP5x and Prov1x a few weeks ago. The course was empty so I was able to hit a few of each balls off the tee and on some approaches. I didn't consciously keep track of what ball I was hitting, only the end result.

I found the TP5 longer off the tee and usually the closer ball to the hole on approaches and around the green.

I carry the driver around 265-275, 6i 175-180 and 9i 145-150.

Off the putter, they all fell in the hole exactly the same!

TP5 is a great ball.
