Palm springs area course conditions October 2017

Hi, i do realize the courses are being overseeded during this time so I'm looking for some help finding 2 or three courses in good shape over the week of October 22-29th 2017. from my research it looks like these are my best options. Based on the assumption the course will play better before a course overseeds then after ( very lush but slow greens and cart path only). Im looking for any info on overseeding or conditions . My preference is course conditions over layout. I know bad time to go....

 

my first spot is desert willow firecliff. They will overseed on November 7th. I suspect a few days before they will dry out and scalp some areas. Im wondering what the conditions will be like during my stay 1-2 weeks before overseed. Any one play it recently. I figure the mountain course will open from overseed and be lush, but slow and the choice here would be firecliff. Am i wrong?

 

my next course is Mission hills dye. not the westin. They overseed on the 5th of November. I'm thinking of playing there on one of the first days we arrive. has anyone played there recently? They are very hard to get ahold of for some reason .

 

Norman pga west is the other. they overseed on the 27th. they told me they will not prep for the overseed. So i assume it will play like it is now. any current conditions would be great.

 

the last is Westin mission hills that overseeds on the 30th of Oct.

 

I figure ill play firecliff 2 times and play the others one time each in the 7 days we are there. Any suggestions would be great. Any course you know that is overseeding late or has recovered real well that would be great to know too.

Check greenskeeper.org for condition updates. You'll enjoy all those courses. However, I would suggest Stadium or Nicklaus over Norman. You can book 'em all through golfnow.com Hot Deals or teeoff.com Deal Times (google 20% off discount codes) although prices started going up for the snowbird season. Still cheaper than paying rack rates.

Hey thanks for the info. I tried to look up some conditions but were kinda out of date ( months to years old).

 

Can i ask you about Norman? will the course be in bad shape? or purely a layout issue with norman. I think it is the only one that will be in decent shape in regards to the overseed.

I have played both MH course and not a fan of either but I know its tough during overseeding time to find enough options. I am headed out there in a month and playing DW Mountain course and Shadow Ridge. I really enjoy both courses at DW. I have also played Classic club, Silver Rock and Both at Indian Wells. Guessing some of those are closed while you are there..

I just didn't like the layout. It's worth playing once.

As for our trip we have firecliff x2 , Mission hills , and Pga west Norman set up for the week of 22-30. Hopefully they are in good shape.
