TaylorMade R510 TP, Tour, DF

The R510 TP/DF is definitely one of the best driver heads ever made along with the R500 Tours, R540XD-TP's and R580XD-TP's. Acutally all are great heads and I much prefer the great feel of these to TM's newer MWT Drivers. With a 45" 757 Speeder Tourspec tipped 1/2" these "older" heads give up nothing in distance to the R7 models.

As with most equipment that gets in the bag I didn't like it at first... Thankfully I had a very bad round with my R5TP and put it in for a few. Very solid, easy to find the center of the face, workable and what a boring ballflight!! I play in the wind a lot and combined with a Prov1X it just screams right through it 25ft. off the deck. My description of this club... it's a 275yd. 3wood.

I too have tried it all..........mwt, Titleist, hi-bore, cally, BS, TEE,, every shaft, every putter, every iron....phew! I feel silly because with all of the money i have spent to keep up w/the times, The best are still THE best......R510 TP, 300 forged, Vsteel. They all share the ability to communicate directly through your hands to tell you how high/low, left/right pure or not. The 510 TP has to be #1 in the driver hall of fame (sittin' right next to the 975d). The whole MOI, MWT, draw, neutral, fade thing has gotten us so far from the purity of a well made head that requires you to do the work!

 

The hoin' is over and I'm back to playin 5 year old sticks!

I have had a 510TP with the 757 X flex for going on 3 years now. It is still the best club I have ever hit. So much feel, so forgiving, long as hell. I am not a big guy and I have no problem sending it over 300. All of the new TP models are terrible. I was looking at the Superquad TP, and for the extra 300 bucks you get nothing in return over the regular model. The shaft is the same, and the face was 1 degree CLOSED!

 

I have had the opportunity to buy every new club available. I still play a 510 TP, a V-Steel 3 wood, my 690cbs, vokey wedges, and a pro platinum scotty. New isn't always better.

i know this is a little old, but i had to put in my two cents...i am going to go as far as say that this is the best driver ever made by TM, and i have hit em all so far as they have produced some very good 460 heads, but i am still saying that it is the best head that they have every produced.

ive got a 510tp 10.5 as a back up driver with grafalloy blue tour x and it really does send out bombs! easily a 5 star rating, this is a legendary club, only just replaced it with s/quad 10.5 tour issue, fitted with rombax 6wo6 stiff. :)

Just picked up a like new 510TP 9.5 with speeder 757 stiff for $100. I missed the old one I had and feel it has the best feel and distance of any driver I have played. I have a Fuji 660TR X-flex waiting to be installed.

I have been using the 510TP paired with a graffalloy shaft since 2004. I had a hard time replacing the driver for several years, this driver is very long and accurate! 2008, I thought of retiring the 510TP so I tried the G10 but still went back to the 510TP.

 

Currently, I am using the Epon Forged 460 and have the 510TP as back up driver.

 

Despite the 4 years of technology gap, the 510TP is still very close when it comes to performance with the new drivers today :)

Yep...The R510-TP/DF (390cc) is still as long as anything out there for me!

As are these other drivers fromt the same series:

- R500 Tour (325cc)

- R510 (330cc)

- R540XD-TP Tour (400cc)

- R580XD-TP Tour (440cc)


These were some of the finest heads ever made!

Read that the R510 TP was one of the lower spinning heads that TM made and just picked up a mint condition 8.5 with the Speeder 757 TP stiff flex shaft on eBay for only $36. Can't wait to see what she'll do on the course.

Well this post is at least 5 years later, after the last one and after trying the Taylormade sldr, m1, m2, r15, and even the m1, my old r510 TP DF out drives them all by 20 yards or more, and straighter, unbelievable club. Get one whenever your can they are really worth the money now.
