I think the article is misleading. From reading it is seems that Yonex invested a million Yen into developing this driver, not that the club costs or is worth a million dollars. I'm sure other companies have spent a pretty penny in the research and developing their equipment. I think that is just a sensationalist title.

Read again, they said 100 million yen invested to equal 1 million US Dollars worth of club.

I have the club. Its the YONEX NANOV 45OD. The million dollar figure was R & D development costs. It is not cheap. Typical of High end Japanese drivers, around the $800 range. You can get the next generation version the 425 NANOV in the US for $699. The 450D launches very high compared to the same 10 DEGREE 425 NANOV loft.

You are correct. He is is using the Nextage Nanov now. The 430cc version. There is also a 460cc version with a shallower face. When the million dollar articles 1st appeared on the web, the initial photos I saw of him were holding a 450d. That could have been the time of the initial press release and the photos were dated.

 

That said I should have a few of the Nextage drivers in a week or so.

The Yonex staff pros are using the 430cc version, which is probably the next gen for the 425. I will have one shortly and post the test results.
