Still playing Nike Vapor Combos?

Hey - ďoes anyone still play the Nike VPCs? I have a chance to pick some up real cheap and was thinking of grabbing them as a 2nd set and seeing if can knock my current set out of the bag. I played them a few years ago when my ball striking wasn't that good but loved the feel. Curious who is still pmaying them.

I play Nike Vapor Pro's and absolutely love them!!

IMO the Vapor Pro and Vapor Pro Combo are two of the most underrated and underappreciated irons in the last 5 years.

The Volt Swoosh and Nike's 'gimmicky/inferior' reputation (which was total bs) are what kept these from being a huge success.

I also think the Nike Vapor lineup when redone to the "MM Proto" look are the best looking irons I've ever seen. Working on refinishing mine right now actually.

I do prefer the pro combos in the long irons, as they Vapor Pro's are essentially just blades throughout and it makes it very difficult to hit the 3,4,5.

So to answer your question - yes still playing Nike Vapor's and no intentions to switch! Until I shoot a 40 or above then the whole bag will be on BST for betraying me :D

Was going to switch to Taylormade P-730's, but head to head the Vapor Pro's outperformed P-730's, MP-18's, Titleist 718MB's, Apex MB's, Srixon 965's, and JPX900 Tour's.

Went from Wilson FG Tour V4's to Nike Vapor Pro's. Amazingly, better flight and better accuracy. Feel is super soft and the lofts aren't super jacked. Might pick up another set just in case but now that I have 8 sets of irons, I might press my luck with the new wife...

I actually picked up a cheap set of the Vapor Pros the other day and have only hit the 6, but I'm not feeling it yet. I haven't ever owned Nike clubs but have fallen in love with the look of them, especially all the Vapor line. Unfortunately you need a spreadsheet and a cheat sheet to figure out all the models and their characteristics. But I'm interested in the Combos as well, so thanks for all the feedback!

My gawd.....you need HELP!

I would argue that he needs praise, not help. I can only hope to get to eight someday!

I have the Vapor Pro's 3-PW, and like others have said they are very very solid. When I got fitted I couldn't tell the difference between the combo and pro 7-iron feelwise on the few shots, so I went with the pros because they were much cheaper. In hindsight I should have gone 3-6 in the combos and 7-PW pros because the long irons in the pros are a little harder to hit than I would like.

Contrary to what you read on many parts of this site, Nike made some fantastic player's irons and (besides the coloring) these are some of the better ones.

I want a set of Vapor Pro Combos sooooooo freaking bad! It's hard to find them in great condition.

Have a 4-AW set in great shape - was thinking of pulling the heads and selling them. They are sweet for sure, but I went back to my TaylorMade PSI`s for maximum forgiveness. Funny though, I hit the VPC`s just as far even though they are a hair weaker in lofts, but mis-hits can be punishing. Definitely an under-rated iron, and if I do unload them, I`ll probably regret it some day.

Get them! Then do this. All it takes is a bit of sandpaper, steel wool and paint.

Will continue to be the best looking set of clubs the coming 20 years - and they perform great!

Anyone hit the Vapor Pros who's also hit the Original Blades and the VR Pros? Will be wanting to do something about my irons next season as the shafts on mine are getting a bit rusty, am thinking of either getting these reshafted and adjusted, or going for some VR/Vapor Pros.

Or, of course, trying out some MP-18's / 718MB's :)

Love my Vapor Pro Combo's. Very solid, very forgiving for its size, and agree with others, extremely underrated. To me, every bit as good as the Ping i200's.

Can you dive a little more into comparison with the i200s? I game the i200's and I freaking love them, but I have always wanted a set of VPC's. However, I do not want to give up a huge amount of forgiveness.

Those look awesome. What type of sandpaper did you use?

Just some regular stuff from the local hardware store. Can't remember the exakt grit numbers

1. Medium grit (100 grit?)

2. Fine grit (220 grit?)

3. Steel wool to finish

I sold my VPC irons a few months ago, got the 718 AP2 irons last month. Just ordered a brand new set of VPC irons. The VPC irons are so much better, and the feel is amazing and I missed that.

I have a Forged Blade 6-iron demo head that I use for range practice. I'd say the Vapor Pros are on par with them all around. Obviously the Forged Blades are polished chrome, and the Vapor Pros are satin, but other than that they look pretty similar (as most blades do), and feel pretty similar as well. The Vapor Pros are more forgiving in my opinion, as I've noticed that strikes around the face seem to still go a decent distance (especially out the toe).
