Thanks for creating this thread, NaBUru38.

Just watched Inside the PGA TOUR on Golf Channel, where they featured web.com TOUR player and Las Vegas native A.J. McInerney, who makes his PGA TOUR debut this week in his home town just a month after surviving the tragedy at the Route 91 Harvest music festival. Powerful stuff.

Along those lines, Charley Hoffman has declared he is donating his entire earnings this week to a fund to help victims, survivors and families. Let's hope Charley has a great week.

I watched it as well. Very powerful and truly horrific. The young man is a hero for driving as many people as he could fit into his Tahoe to safety. I hope he does well this weekend.

Charley Hoffman is following in Stacy Lewis' footsteps. Mad props. We need more people like them on this Earth.

Wind was crazy on 18 at the end of round yesterday, felt bad for those last 4-5 groups that had to deal with those conditions.

"Already better than Spieth."

~PLHR

Somewhere, Putz is celebrating five years late.

That was a trainwreck of a play-off, with Cantlay emerging "bloodied but unbowed."

(a little Vinnyism there :))

I believe Patrick will slowly become one of the top American players, adding yet another fine 20-something to an already impressive group of fine young American pros.

It looked for a short while that Beau Hossler might come away with this title, but he just couldn't find the spark today. He's another fine looking prospect.

According to Nosferatu (@VC606) at 35 weeks this is the third quickest ascent from outside the world Top 1000 into the Top 50. Patrick will go to #42 in the world. He was expected to be this good and it's nice to see him overcome the years of turmoil to get there.

That was a really boring tournament.

I was glued to the screen for the final hour.

that makes two of us

I guess boring is the wrong word because I did keep the TV on. But I thought the play down the stretch was sloppy. Nobody putting it on the green on the Par 3 (17?)And the nobody coming close to hitting the green on 18.

Oh, no doubt about it, nochct1. Very sloppy play and jangling nerves. But that can be dramatic in its own way. It's like watching an 11 year old show-off attempting to jump 15 trash cans on his Schwinn. :)

Since I was there, the reason that people had trouble with 17 and 18 was that wind came up and it got cold really fast. Both 17 and 18 get a lot harder when the wind blows, with water left and greens that slope towards the water. Everyone started bailing out to the right. Then they discover how hard it is to stop the ball going down the slope toward the water. I've ruined many a good round by finishing double bogey - double bogey on those two holes.

The wind was obvious on TV as was the obvious bail outs to the right. But its not compelling TV watching guys decide to hope getting up and down for par will win it for them - which it ultimately did for Cantlay. I give Whee Kim credit for trying to bust one instead of bailing right. He seemed to recognize that the worst that could happen is he ends up T-2. No risk it, no biscuit.

A PGA Tour event on WRX which hasn't even gone onto a second page the day after it has finished.

That finishing the season early and starting the next one the week after is really working isn't it?!

I have played in that wind ( silver state residents have a name for it) and agree 100% . Pro standing on the tee facing those condition has to tell themselves ... No one remembers who finished second.

I agree that it wasn't very compelling. I could only watch so many guys fail to try and take a shot on before I had to change the channel. I realize the degree of difficulty was off the charts, but I think there were a few guys out there protecting their position and going for a high finish, than trying for a bold (reckless?) shot.
