This guy was my neighbor in Auburn watched him hit balls many times up at RTJ. Unreal talent super nice guy. Great playing last week on a Monday qualify...keep it up SS! He had just gotten a new set of Ping irons at start of summer...interesting to see the change already.

Heard Feinstein mentioning him on the radio yesterday. Almost gave up golf aftert missing Tour school and absolutely hammers the ball. Led the field averaging 325 last week. Qualified last week and in this week because of last week’s top-10?

I don't know about any of that...he broke a bone in his foot last summer and had a hard time doing anything golf for a while. No way I would ever give up playing hitting it like he does. Words can't describe how quiet and reserved of a guy he is...pulling for the dude big time. Thing for me too is he grows up in Auburn and ends up playing at Bama. Go firgure!

It’s true. Him and his wife were out of money and he resorted to making their own furniture. Got good at it and was about to turn it into a career until his wife told him to try to play a little longer. Then made it through prequalifying and qualifying at Sanderson Farms. T4 I think and made over $100k.

I love stories like that. I'll be rooting for him this season.

He had a stress fracture and kept him out for a while. His wife was the one who got him to go back out and attempt to qualify for q-school. I saw him play and got to interview him a few months ago and he is hands down one of the nicest guys I've ever met. He is also one of the longest players i have ever seen. So glad to see him pre and monday his way into the Sanderson, and really hope he plays well this week.

Bit surprised he's only playing DI's and X100's in his clubs with everyone saying how long he is. Clicked this expecting to see some absolute rebar

See where you're coming from...but most notorious long balls don't play rebar throughout the bag. Also, as you probably know they have access to exact cpm they want. Those could be heavily tipped and highest cpm shafts. And again, just cause he's a bomber doesn't mean he needs rebar either.

DJ bubba prime tiger all bombers = x100

DJ de-lofts it so much and is so shallow his spin is on the lower end with his irons (~5200 6i) and probably needs more spin if anything, Bubba hits massive hooks/cuts so still needs workable shafts and Tiger was similar in looking for a certain feel but also just hit it so pure it doesn't matter what shafts he had lol. I agree with what you're saying though and I guess we have to remember not everyone loves the feel of something super stiff even though their swing speed "recommends" it and as always, strike is king. Guess it just always surprises me since X100 spins way to much for me (~600 rpm more than C-taper) even though I liked the feel of it best and still played it for 5-6 years.

My guess would be tipped a lot and hardstepped.

Just another long hitter who will never make a name for himself

Do yourself a favor and log off the net for a few years...nice contribution. The guy is tall and slim and generates speed naturally. He hits it was well as any one person I have seen...

We are in the hate on everything, done nothing in my own life times. Tigers game is ridiculed on the daily you think this young buck was gonna be immune lol.

He's definitely gonna be a regular tour player and has all the tools to be a force. I'm on the lookout
