2018 callaway xforged - LEGIT!!!

I’ve never owned or considered callaway irons before just not a fan of the brand but had a fitting today and these blew the ap2 and MP18 sc out of the water

The feel was incredible distance was there with the 790s considering the loft difference didn’t make sense. Looks fantastic and very forgiving for such a small iron.

I’ll post some numbers from fitting later but these will be in bag for 2018 no doubt with px 6.0

Beautiful irons .... ps the ap2 718 were kinda a dud

2024 Bag TBD

Did you have the 790's there at the fitting? It's interesting that they were as long as you stated with such a difference in lofts. Thanks for the heads-up.

Played my first round with them this weekend and I gotta say I'm in LOVE.

Maybe the honeymoon phase, I don't think so tho.

I was playing Apex CF16's with KBS 130x's.

So I can't confirm it's the heads and not the new head/shaft combo. But the feeling is fantastic and the ability to work the ball and flight it is superb.

If it's anything like the 2013 X forged then it should be a winner. I love these irons.

You went from CF16’s to the X-forged? Wow that’s quite the jump. I thought the CF16’s were the easiest irons to hit and one of the longest. I’m really liking the look of the X. How is the forgiveness and distance compared to the CF16’s?

If I remember right you used to play Nike pro combos back in the day before AP2s. If so what was your impression of the x forged long irons? I have a set coming

played the original pro combos years ago really liked them but I was new to golf back then and really sucked bad. Now I only suck a little so honestly hard to compare. I do remember the pro combos feeling great though.

Not sure if it's quite a jump or not. I strictly played MB's/CB's prior to the CF16's. Ball striking isn't really an issue for me. I find the forgiveness to pretty good so far (1 round and 2 range sessions). Distance wise, I'm kinda of surprised how close they are. Can't say for sure why tho, may be launching a bit higher with a tad more spin possibly. I made a shaft change with these as well.

I'd say anyone thinking of new irons, don't sleep on these. Hit em...

Did you try them with any c-taper shafts (S+, X)? What for shafts did you try before settling on the modus 125Xs? I take it you’re liking the Modus though haha

No, I did not try any C-tapers. I have tried them in the past and never really liked them.

I finally got a chance to try out the Callaway APEX X-Forged and Callaway MB as well as the Mizuno MP-18 SC and MB last night at an indoor dome. Compared to my iBlades they all are actually quite easy to hit. To be honest I could game any of them and be happy. To me, I liked both of the Mizuno MP-18's with the edge going to MB with DG X100 and Project X PXi 6.5, then the Callaway APEX X-Forged with Project X would be second. The Callaway MB was nice, but the X-Forged was nicer. Really can't go wrong with any of them IMHO..

When I tried I found the MP18 Meh. Maybe it was the LZ shaft but they didn't feel alive. The Apex with PX was the winner for me.

To each his own. I recently went for a fitting. Loved the Xs but the AP2 were much more consistent for me albeit about 7 shorter than the Callys. Good luck!

Hit the X- Forged today against P790 aand JPX 900F each having different shafts. The X- Forged felt the best and were 15 yds behind the other two (as figured with loft diff.).

I really went to love the P790, but the 900F just performs so damn good. ‘18 X- Forged are amazing, just not good enough to play them.

I hit the 7 iron demo today with PX 6.0. Felt good, nice look at address. For me they sit between the CF16s and the Apex Pros. Could game them.
