i got to hit them today. both felt great. both had px shafts, so overall they felt a little light. x forged def launched a little higher. same distances for both mb and x forged. I hit my s55 next to them and distances were all the same, the s55 launched like the x forged. I prefer my modus to the px. the s55 is like a hybrid of the x forged and mb size wise, sits right in between.

overall, didn't like the shape of the x forged in person....something was a little off to me in the heel area, and the mb I didn't like the chrome but the shape was better. Great irons, but nothing stood out that would make me switch. I know I will get flamed, but the s55 felt every bit as good, as did the mp32 I have.

S55 feel great. If you blind folded guys and had them hit them against a full forged blade you would not have many guys that could tell the difference

I tried them out over the weekend and I thought they looked a little off too. I can't quite pinpoint what it was, but something was definitely messing with my eye on them. I couldn't get over how high I was hitting them, even with the stronger lofts. It seems like there's a little more weight down in the sole than it looks.

I liked the looks of these in person but does anyone else think the PW looks odd? Something about how the top line flows into the hosel area. Kinda turned me off.

I looked at a lot of the new stuff and these were one of the better looking ones imo, along with the AP2 and 750/70s. The 790s reminded me of the Apexes; thought I was going to be more impressed.

Bias aside but nothing looked as good as the 745/65s (nor the 945/65s) to me personally...and like a lot of people, I’m looking for a reason to buy something new and shiny.

Shout out to Callaway golf,

I have an apex ut 18* which I love I was playing 2 weeks ago and the the face right along the bottom groove cracked.

I contacted Callaway they said they done have the components to replace it anymore bit if I wait until January they will replace it with the X Forged UT

Great customer service.

Is it January Yet???

I noticed that as well. The PING i200 wedge kinda has that same look.

The new AP2 may just be the best looking clubs on the market right now.

Anyone want to post a picture of their PW. I’m not sure I noticed this when looking at the clubs. Then again I likely wasn’t paying much attention to the PW.

Thanks for the video. My x Forged are delivered this week so it will be interesting to see if I like the short irons or not. If not I’m going to have to go MB

I think this may be the answer for many. The only negative (and I'm being very picky here) is the differences in finishes between the two.

If Cally produces a new Apex Pro with a chrome finish, the Apex Pro/Apex MB may be an ideal match.

Thanks for the picture!! Could you post it next to a 7 iron for example to see the difference if any? Would be interested to see how well it blends.

I did the comparison pic with the 8I because "they say" it's actually the transition iron.......and I agree, they flow from club to club fine.

33 degree 7 iron is not exactly strong by today standards the mb is 1 degree weaker

I would consider them 2 degrees stronger than a quintessential iron set. 35 degree 7 iron, I feel like, is normal.

You are also using a set of irons from 16 years ago :taunt: The times, they are a changin'

That is also very true haha for a players iron the X Forged is 1 degree stronger than most though

You are certainly not the first person to say this......but gosh I just have to disagree. I would consider playing the Pings in a minute if it wasn't for the feel. Just cannot get past it.

This may have been discussed earlier in the thread but, for sh!ts and giggles, I was fooling around in my shop with past / other sets of irons and came across one that, to my eye, is an exact replica of the profile of Cally's new '18 X Forged. Here's a pic of the two side by side (one being a new '18 X Forged). One is a 4 iron and the other a 3 iron. You can probably tell which is which, but see if you can guess what the "other" iron is. I'm telling you, the head profile and transitions from topline to neck...heal to sole, toe height, offset, sole & top line thickness and etc., are identical. Obviously our weather sucks and there's no immediate golf on the horizon here, so I'm killing some time. Take a guess. BTW.......9 holes under my belt with the new '18 X Forged and they are friggin' awesome. What an incredible feel, coupled with the Modus shafts. Really sweet. Excited for my Hilton Head and Florida trips over the holidays.

I'm considering a set of 2018 x-Forged but worried the long irons will be hard to hit. I'm coming from Ping Ei1. I'm also considering 718 ap2. I compared the soles of the 5 irons and the ap2 are significantly wider. Has anyone compared them and have any thoughts forgiveness in the long irons?

Was the s-taper black any upcharge?

Yes, considered an exotic shaft.

what was the upcharge for $ black by chance?

I get them for less than wholesale, not sure what the retail up charge is on those.

i am guilty of 2 sets as well have the mb 7-pw now with reoil 110 and the rest of the sets coming full set of xforged with recoils and another combo set with steelfiber. honestly i will not be using 7-pw in the xforged the mb's are fantastic and for the club they are very playable actually thinking of getting a 6 iron in the mb they are fantastic
