2017 Callaway X Forged (2018 Spotted Pics)

This may have been discussed earlier in the thread but, for sh!ts and giggles, I was fooling around in my shop with past / other sets of irons and came across one that, to my eye, is an exact replica of the profile of Cally's new '18 X Forged. Here's a pic of the two side by side (one being a new '18 X Forged). One is a 4 iron and the other a 3 iron. You can probably tell which is which, but see if you can guess what the "other" iron is. I'm telling you, the head profile and transitions from topline to neck...heal to sole, toe height, offset, sole & top line thickness and etc., are identical. Obviously our weather sucks and there's no immediate golf on the horizon here, so I'm killing some time. Take a guess. BTW.......9 holes under my belt with the new '18 X Forged and they are friggin' awesome. What an incredible feel, coupled with the Modus shafts. Really sweet. Excited for my Hilton Head and Florida trips over the holidays.

I really hope this isn’t the case. I hated the Apex Pros from 2014. I liked when Callaway irons were longer from heel to toe

Not in love with the look of the X Forged coming from Titleist irons. Mine will end up on the bst and I’ll likely go back to Titleist irons.

I couldn't agree more with you on these clubs. Especially paired with the Modus. They are without a doubt the best/smoothest feeling clubs I've ever played.

33 degree 7 iron is not exactly strong by today standards the mb is 1 degree weaker

I would consider them 2 degrees stronger than a quintessential iron set. 35 degree 7 iron, I feel like, is normal.

Not this decade...

14 Pings. Blueprints are incredibly good. Fetch is the most underrated putter on the market. Don't @ me.

I'm considering a set of 2018 x-Forged but worried the long irons will be hard to hit. I'm coming from Ping Ei1. I'm also considering 718 ap2. I compared the soles of the 5 irons and the ap2 are significantly wider. Has anyone compared them and have any thoughts forgiveness in the long irons?

I have thoughts. Apex Pros were like that as well. I found it very, very easy to go astray with the 4 iron. I stopped carrying it because it was hurting my scores. IMO, it does not blend well. 6-P was pretty long, and had some gapping issues, but the long irons were a different kettle of fish. You either love them or hate them for the thin sole. There's no in between, and while pured shots were lots of fun, my ball striking off the deck wasn't up to the 4. Occasionally I'd catch the 5 for a bomb... in the 205 range. Then the next shot wouldn't be perfect and it would be 30-35 yards shorter. Maybe if I was scratch, ya. I'm good, but I'm not good enough for those. Hope that helps.
