New Chrome Softs

Chrome Soft is being re-engineered in the spring. The scientist and engineers in Carlsbad are infusing the ball with a new formula that will make the "Ball that Changed the Ball, Part III ." There are many here that no more than I, so please chime in. :rap: :download: :derisive:

I’m going to guess that it flies straighter (less side spin) and the core compresses better on off-center hits than the previous model.

 

Then again those statements are true about every premium golf ball when they release a new model.

I agree completely. I love this ball and have never really been one to stick to a particular ball to play with. There may be better balls but I won't try them for the simple fact that Tru-Vis is not on other branded balls.

Have it on good authority that the core will be liquid nitronium, the only problem seems to be keeping it stable. It also has a half life of 12 months, it will degrade just in time for 2019 and the release of the ball that changed the ball that changed the ball that................

Maybe its not made of chrome, but it is pretty darn soft... especially compared to the tour balls that were on the market when it was debuted a few years ago. Since then all the other manufacturers have been scrambling to make their tour balls softer.

 

What are you comparing it to? Unless you say supersoft or duo I'm just SMH at this one...

Looks pretty darn average to me mate. And the 15 version listed here is the softest one. The newer version is higher compression with the x version being higher still. Not sure what there is to shake your head at.

It is a great ball, but Wilson changed the ball with the soft revolution. Fg tour, Duo line, even the 50/50.

Me too. Wouldn't be nice if a ball company came out one year and said - "We couldn't make anythng better than last year's ball. You're playing the best we have. If something changes we'll be the first to let you know".

I like the CSX hope they don't change it just yet. We don't really get the special stuff anyway and IMO still too many $$$.

Can’t wait to see what they do. All I know is, the CS feels the best off of irons for me and they go straighter and seem to hit my true distance numbers. Chipping and putting feel close enough to a PV1 that it is negligible, and the key for me is that off the driver it goes far, and straight. Srixon Qstar Tour drives better for me, but irons and chipping/putting don’t feel as good as a CS or PV1. I hope they keep it the same but maybe do something for a bit more distance off the tee.

 

I prefer the latest over the 15 ball. The original felt very hallow off the tee. Like hitting a marshmallow. I like the feedback of the new one. You can tell better where on the face you hit it. Only question is, do you,stock up now at $32, or wait for the new one.

Titleist's testing the AVX, its' Chrome. And now Chrome trying to be more like a TP5 (which IS the ball that changed the ball ) ?

My Callaway rep gave me two sleeves of the new ball but unfortunately, my season is done here in Canada so never did get to try them.
