If it aint broke don't fix it. The ball is pretty good as is. Please don't change it too much.

Yeah this! Why change it if it is working! Now they will have to say "We changed the ball that changed the ball". I cannot imagine on what they can improve on it.

Luckily I still have like 8-9 dozen or so still. Of course I will have to try the new on just to see how it compares to the current one! But I don't think it will be better!

I think Callaway is tweaking the ball to compete with the Pro V1 that some of their Tour player use instead of CS/CSx. If they can improve on their current offering then more power to them.

I don't disagree. Or it could be they want to ride the wave of their success. But the key to their success is that they were leading, not following. Hence, my confusion...

Man, I am loving this current version.

Me too. Wouldn't be nice if a ball company came out one year and said - "We couldn't make anythng better than last year's ball. You're playing the best we have. If something changes we'll be the first to let you know".

There is a reverse side to this coin. If they kept the same ball longer it would be longer between runouts of the outdated model. I'm happy for new balls to come out so I can stock up on old balls for cheap.

I've heard that the cover is going to have a new polymer that will allow it to have a cover within the cover, like the TP5x, which will give it a little more distance and won't scuff as much. The chrome soft is by far the best ball I've ever played. I can't imagine it being better but it sure sounds like it's gonna be.

My Callaway rep gave me two sleeves of the new ball but unfortunately, my season is done here in Canada so never did get to try them.

Great golf weather here in Florida I'll be glad to give them a try, just send them my way :)

In all seriousness I am a big fan of the original CS. Stopped using it after the new version released as I didn't like the feel any longer. I think it was in my head and I gave up on it too soon because I found one on the course a few weeks back, put it in play and have now played 4, sub 80 rounds with that same ball and remember why I liked it so much. With the current price drop I think I will pick up a few to last me until this new ball is released in the spring.

I agree, but tell that to Titlleist, TaylorMade, car companies, cell phone companies, tv companies, movie producers, restaurants, etc.

Everyone has to come up with Fake Changes to keep us in the "buying cycle".

When is the last time you same something really New and/or Improved?

I really like the Chrome Soft and the Snell MTB and have been playing both. I think they are very comparable in all characteristics. However, even better than the two of them is the CSX. It is a little lower launch giving me a little more distance, and the spin off the irons and ability to hold even firm greens has been outstanding! Now, if only Snell would come out with a ball with a little more holding power on full iron shots......

Exactly so. The modern golf marketplace is such that if you don't tweak the product, or at least pretend you have, it becomes stale and you could lose traction.

It's fairly stupid, when you boil it away,but....

It’s not-picky I know but I love everything about the CS except the script, and I especially do not like the chevron.

I like the nice thin scripting of the Titleist and Taylor made balls.

Nike VRS 18* & 21* Hybrids
TaylorMade P790 5-PW

I hope ball manufacturers keep on tweaking their golf balls. This means the 'older and obsolete' previous version of the ball will be discounted. Really folks.....are our game so precise that the little tweak here or there will impact our scores ?

I wholeheartedly agree. I can't play balls that have poor scripting/logos etc. Nothing wrong with that even though it may be a little picky. There are so many great golf balls with comparable characteristics and prices that you might as well play something that you like 100%, including what you see when you look down at it.

I never thought I'd be picky at those things and to an extent, I still don't think I am that much but, pretty much, if a ball has "titleist" on it, I can't use it.

Can't wait to see the new Chrome Softs. I played with a regular that I found on the course yesterday after I lost a Nike Black to the trees and it was a nice welcome back.
