Brag on yourself thread!

Recommended Posts

Thus far in 2017.....

  • I didn't make an ace. (Of course I only made one thus far since I have been playing and it was on a stupid temp green at an exec course and hardly worth bragging about/over)
  • I didn't break par for an entire 18.
  • I didn't make any eagles on any par 4's and only made one on a par 5.
  • I spent slightly less than a grand continuing to seek the perfect game fix in the form of equipment and still find myself making head shaking shots. (not in a good way)
  • I stopped cussing as much after making those head shaking shots but they still slipped out now and then.
  • I shot my highest round in a tourney - ever. Largely because I was playing with an injury but still....
  • I bought myself a Truvis to test it out. And lost it on the very first hole I used it on. (apparently not as visible as I had hoped - I lost it in thick grass)

So, after you read the list above you have gotta be asking "Does this guy realize that this is a brag on yourself thread?"

Yes, I do.

Because, after all of the above I still somehow managed to continue loving this game that does not love me back and have stuck with it.

Nice response Jim!

One of my students went from 1836th in the OWGR last year to 93rd in OWGR this year. And two more this week made it official and signed their national letters of intent to play D1 golf on scholarship.

Congrats! I should bring my 15 yo to you. He doesn't like to listen to dad....

As they say, the older a kid gets the smarter his parents are. :-)

I was first loser at the New Mexico women's amateur this year. Played poorly in the 2nd and 3rd rounds to achieve such greatness.

You still were well ahead of 3rd place and so on. Motivation for next year,

Unfortunately no next year for me. We have retired to TX. Those kids are tough to beat. It can also be somewhat comic realizing I am considerably older than their mothers. :shok:

Poured myself out of bed this morning.

Put on my my new golfing shoe.

Went to the course to see what these new clubs could do.

They were all watching me at the first tee.

Striped one out there as far as one could see.

Memory's getting a little foggy, was it par , better or worse.

Golf can be either a dream or a curse.

At 56 (however I eat right and exercise and have the body of a 55 3/4 year old) this year I ;

Hit two drives 307, longest I can ever remember.

Won a long drive in a tournament by 25 yards.

Few hot starts, 4 under after 5 holes twice, shot 68 first time 88 second, hurt my back second time on #7 limped in.

Played 8 tournaments, first in 20 years.

Learned I STINK UNDER PRESSURE. 78 average, from the whites.

On Friday, the first round of silly season, I shot a 79 at my home course. This is the first time this season that I was able to put a front and back 9 together. My scores are usually in the 87 to 92 range. Both my front (38) and back (41) scores top my PB's of 41 and 43.

I am the best dressed in my Saturday foursome. My wife helps me pick out my cloths, the other guys think Jeans are golf attire.

They also haven't changed their gripes since they got their clubs in 6 years and one guy shoots in the 70's.
