Anybody Still Rolling a Method Origin??

A.Princey

Recommended Posts

I'm just curious, as I've owned a couple and now have another one on the way(to replace the one I did own, a B1-05, not the lines I was comfortable with). I own a dozen or so putters and haven't really used the origin line much yet.

Anyone still gaming one and how's the performance vs other offerings(or old standbys)? I'm going to put this new one(B2-01 naked) into rotation immediately and want to hear your experiences.

I use an Origin B2-01. It was a counterflex but I replaced that shaft with a regular shaft and cut it to about 35” so it’s a bit heavier than a normal one (probably). I have never putted better than I have with this one. That’s because I started working on my putting around the time I got it, but I really like the putter. It looks good, feels good, and makes a nice sound at impact. Idk how much the RZN layer actually does in terms of forgiveness and what have you, but that’s not why I wanted the putter. Mine has a flange line which I’m not a big fan of, but it doesn’t bother me too much. It’s probably my favorite club.

Yeah, the odd 'terraced' flange line is why I tracked down the naked version of the putter. I'll probably put a sightline on the topline, but I love the shape and tech. Lot of courses where I live stimp low so the extra roll will help on rainy/slow days. Plus, it'll be cool to pull this thing out in 30 years when it might have monetary value again, but surely sentimental value being arguably the best, last Nike offering.

I had a B2 01 with the “terraced” flange line. Loved the feel and has awesome distance control, but that line for alignment was terrible. Got rid of it and went back to some old Scotty’s for a while.

But missed it very much. Took some looking, but tracked down and bought a naked B2 01, and loving it now.

Recently bought a brand new 1 & 2 from a bin in a pro shop for a steal. Only practice green to date but the best feeling putter I have ever experienced. I have a number of putters inc TM, Scotty, Ping etc and these top them for feel, roll and distance - distance control really noticeable. The 2 (Rory) version easier on my Eye but no performance difference.

Yeah, the B2 profile seems taller to me too. It's almost like they took the TW Scotty profile exactly, and used it as a template for the B1 face shape. Not really sure, but his Scotty looks like a Timeless tri-sole that has the topline shaved down a millimeter or so. Anyone else notice this??

got a b2-01 love the roll and control/forgiveness i get out of it. I am sold on the tech in it. I've drained more putts beyond 25 feet with it in half a season than with everything before :)

Now here's some powerful reaffirmation of what I was hoping to hear!!!

But serously, I think the long term benefits will be great for me as an amateur; one that doesn't putt or practice daily. It'll be nice to just take my putter on the green and completely forget mechanics and have faith in its extra forgiveness. Mallets are a turnoff so this will be about as close as I can get, while having this exact shape/weight.

I have a B1-01 that is still in my putter rotation. I love it. I change putters pretty regularly so I don't get sick of any of them. Doesn't seem to matter to my putting too much. I have more effect on the result than the putter. Love the feel, love the weight. Putters have gone heavier and heavier in recent years and this one is a 345g head weight which suits me better. Even 340g is good. The B1-01 isn't going anywhere.

haha ya i'm in the same boat i try to play once a week so only practice i get is in the house.

I was gravitating towards Evnroll (didn't like the feel) and Ping vault (toss up with anser and voss but didn't love either shape) because of the forgiveness and it happen that the origin had similar tech and was much cheaper option to experiment.

I've been looking but I can't find one. Did they ever make a origin mallet?

No. I believe there would have been some coming out, but they never made it that far before they shut down.

Damn that would have been nice

Didn't they make one or two mallets? M11w and 003w are "prototypes", but they are out there.

They've made mallets in the past, but M11w and 033w aren't Origin models
