Best ball mark repair tool

Recommended Posts

I've been eyeballing this guy. I like how you can use it as a club prop for your putter/wedge (which you can do with any two pronged repair tool, but the indent is cool). It just seems a bit pricey and just sharp enough to potentially puncture the old scrot.

I'm a sucker for carbon fiber! Free shipping was the push I needed! I ordered one.

Many cool looking bmrt's, and I think most of them work just fine. Although, I think the biggest issue with repairing ball marks is knowing how it is supposed to be done.

I have a few auto ball mark tools I use, had them since I started playing. Decided to give them a facelift. Sanded off the golf ano for a brushed finish. Ground off the brass button GT Knives logos and polished up the buttons. Made two Timascus inserts where the ball markers went, sanded flat and epoxied in as permanent inlays. Then made two clips and anodized some titanium screws I found to match. Finally I torched the forks to match the color theme best I could. I like how they came out.

Pitch pro tool actually does the best job for me esp compared to the various two prong types like the switch blade pitch fix.

It's much less traumatic and repairs the mark more cleanly. It's a little bit of a suped up golf tee but it works well.

I think two-pronged ball Mark repair tools work better than one prong tools, which seem to tear the grass more.

I've used a few different ones over the years and the best one for me is the Pitch Fix. I walk 50 of my 60 rounds each year and I like that it closes up and fits in my back pocket. I use it for both repairing my divots and placing my club handles on when I need a wedge and putter around the green. I hate having my clubs directly on the ground because the grips get wet, dirty, etc. This tool is perfect, and light. Can't stand heavy divot tools.

I love the pitchfix as well, and it seems to give me more leverage while pushing the turf inwards towards the ball mark then other tools offer.

That makes no sense, I've used the pitch pro now for 150+ rds and it in no way tears the grass more than a two pronged tool. On avg. there is less turf disturbance (less holes, less depth, and less turf being pushed in) vs. every other two pronged tool I've used. Generally the depth is perfect as you cannot insert past the handle, so there is a built in stop. It's almost idiot proof.

I'm less concerned by the type of tool then I am with the person using it....tearing the grass is a technique issue!

I agree. I think people using two prong tend to lift the grass or depression.

For the most part with pitch pro, I just push straight in aroujd the mark and it repairs nicely and looks relatively atraumatic. Two prong for me makes way more holes and also looks like more damage. Also the end result doesn't look as well repaired; the center of the mark more apparent than one prong still.

lol, yes, the two prong ball marker repair tool forces me to lift the grass or depression where the one prong doesn't. Really?

It doesn't force YOU, but I think many people intuit from the design with two prongs to lift. Everyone I knew growing up did that until I looked it up.

I also didn't say the one prong doesn't. I just said people who use the two prong mostly use it incorrectly, and I'd surmise that the design encourages that method to most who don't know better.

I like the pitch pro but am interested in a retractable single prong. anyone know where I can get my hands on single one of these: http://www.brilliantpromos.com/SliderPic-Retractable-Single-Prong-Divot-Tool-574988548

that looks pretty cool. site says you can buy one with a random imprint on it as a sample, for 7.50. likely it was an overrun or one that didn’t meet qa on a previous sale

I may grind off one of the prongs of a pitchfix fusion and have a 1 prong switchblade.

yeah, you can get a blank sample but they want $13 for shipping.

Having used both a tee (one prong), and several types of tools with two prongs, I can't imagine how anyone can think a one prong is better? Tees are especially frustrating to get into the ground if its hard, they are not very ergonomic in my hand, and they take out a bigger hole to make a repair to begin with. I will always use a two prong tool going forward.

Exactly. Atee does make too large of a hole and ends up tearing the grass more than necessary due to being a single prong device. The prongs in two prong devices help each other out in moving the grass towards the center of the ball mark, and do less damage then a tee does. I have tried them both and always go with my pitchfix ball mark repair tool.
