Editor Review: Mizuno MP-69's

Recommended Posts

Though I Play the Nike 2011 VR Pro blades(5-PW) with my 3-4i's being the VR Pro Pocket CB, these were the nicest all around Mizzy blade that I hit going back to the 14's, which I Played for a decade. Though these were not Richard's cup of tea(he swears by the 68's), there is no finer iron out there, even today. It is such an individual choice and you could lay every single Mizzy blade down on a table and there isn't a bad one in the lot, it just comes down to preferences. Though this review was done long ago, these blades can still stack up with anything out there today. Nice review Floyd :) Maddie

Just picked up a set of 69's and I have to admit they are the best Mizuno blade I've ever played. I've owned a set of 32's, 33's and 15's and IMHO THE 69's are the best of the lot in regards to looks (very clean lines, little offset, not too big or too small), feel (when flushed it's oh so soft, distinctively softer than the others, imo the other 3 sets were a bit clicky), workable in all directions, solid turf interaction, and predictable distances... I love em.

Driver: Epic SZ 10.5 665 Speeder

Hybrids: Epic 3 wood and 3, 4, 5 hybrids
Irons: Yamaha Inpres X V Forged Recoil 80

I agree! The 69's are a fantastic offering from Mizuno. I think they kinda got left in the shadows of the 68's but to me are every bit as good if not better. The only iron I'm considering in the future is the MP-5's. I have had gamed them in a combo set with the 25's and loved them but the 25's where now for me. I will be getting a set of 5's 3-pw either in the fall or early next year. I'm hoping that Mizuno offers the project X LZ shafts this year.

The 5's look awesome but a touch big looking imo... not to say I wouldn't play them but I'm cheap and can't see myself dropping $1000 for a set of clubs that probably won't last in the bag over a 1-2 years!

the 69's just feel and perform so good which is scary because its going to be very hard for me to look at anything else. The MP5's look similar to the 69's but have not seen or hit them yet. Has anyone done a side-by-side comparison of the two ?

I have been toying with the idea of getting the MP-5 or the JPX 900f or tour. But I just hit my 69's so good it make it hard to justify. I hard stepped some X100 TI shafts into them a couple months ago just as a experiment thinking they would be to much for my 91mph 6 iron but I was wrong. I'm absolutely loving them! I think I'll just wait until next year and see how these treate through the winter months. Maybe I'll look at finding a set of MP-5's next spring and hard step another set of x100's into them. But my God the 69's are good!

I currently swing the MP 67. I just picked up a lightly used set of MP 69’s w/KBS Tours X off the bay for $165. I was looking at MP 4 and MP 5, but for $165, I’ll play these for 2018.
