Man, I want to go back so bad.

We got snow in Houston Friday morning. First snow since just after my 7yo was born.

Thankfully we will be back in shorts by this afternoon.

I just want to put something random in there for everyone's frame of reference....I'm the 5th person from the end on the right. I am legit 6 feet tall

 

The people on this trip were giants. I'm like the smallest person in the picture

 

The last time I was 6 feet tall, I was 13 years old. ;-) lol

I was looking at the national weather map yesterday. I couldn't believe some of the temperatures I saw so far south. Even parts of Mexico only got up to the low 40s.

I remember flying over and alongside MCRD, where I went through boot camp. THAT brought back a lot of memories. lol

 

I get off the plane, head towards ground transportation and there is a gentleman holding a sign up to greet me. He goes to get the car, which was a BMW so big I could cross my legs in the back seat. It was a nice drive up the coast.

 

​I remember walking into the restaurant and seeing a number of you for the first time...at the bar. lol

 

Great hors d'oeuvre/confabulations too before our putter fitting. Seems like yesterday and if it wasn't for this thread I would be wondering if I made the entire thing up. :-)

Nobody stays in touch with me, of course that's probably because of stupid international cell phone rates. At least that's what i tell myself (while crying, of course)

 

Actually, it's kind of crazy how fast things move technology wise. When i went on the trip a year ago, Videotron (Quebec's biggest provider) didn't do US "roam like home" plans so i couldn't use my cell phone on the trip unless on Wi-Fi. I actually got a US plan through my company phone but only for the month of december. So leading up to the trip it hadn't been activated and every text cost me like 1$. I had to ask to be removed from the group text. It was actually a major pain in the a**....and i had to bring 2 phones to San Diego, one for work which i used on the trip, and my personal phone that i use at the hotel while on wi-fi. If you're wondering why i didn't just use my work phone the whole time, it's because my work phone is a Blackberry Classic, which is a horrible phone. So i was constantly switching between 2 phones. Price you paid being Canadian before international rates became normalized

 

Of course , now Videotron offers "roam like home" for super cheap. If the trip was this year it would've been zero issue and i may actually still have friends from the trip :)

It was a blast. Some information overload, but they were such great hosts. Seemed like everytime we turned around, they had something new to see or try.

 

Unfortunately, my phone blew up in the spring while I was on the pm thread, and I got deleted so I've only been able to stay in touch through the forum.
