What Are You "OCD" About?

Sean2

Recommended Posts

I'm OCD over my scorecard, and the scorecard I'm responsible to fill out.

Every number is written cleanly, and at the same angle without touching the borders of the little boxes on the card. I keep the card in a holder, and it never gets creased, wet or dirty.

On the other hand, the guy who is scoring me has usually smeared chili sauce all over it and he's half erased a number or two and then rewritten them on top of the eraser rubbings. After that he asymmetrically folds it into a screwed up little trapezoid and shoves it into his front pocket along with the two half sucked out lifesavers.

At the end of the round my scorecard looks like a nightmare from Hieronymus Bosch, and the other guy smears his John Hancock (in kindergarden handwriting) on his immaculate filled out card with a fat tipped blue magic marker.

After I finally calm down, I normally drive home and turn off the air pump in the aquarium.

I liked this post just because "Hieronymus" is spelled correctly. Does that count as being OCD about spelling?

Hieronymus always looks like it's misspelled in a couple of places when it is spelled correctly...kind of like Shaun Micheel.

OCD about grammar The title of your thread should be, "About what are you OCD." :)

Lol! Well, I do avoid "could care less". :-)

His clubs, his amps, his guitars and his pedals. Sometimes his wine...

LOL. Glad to know I'm not the only golf junkie/guitar junkie in the group. It's a dangerous combo.

The nice thing about golf clubs, is that they make great air guitars. :-)

ps: sorry I never made it up to NH this summer. It just didn't work out. :-(

There's always next year, just let me know!

I will!

Present and accounted for. I'm way more particular with my musical gear than my golf gear.

Looks like you're a P-90 guy so I think we would get along.

Yes, I have five Reverends, all with P90s..

Na, you're not OCD about spelling, just suffering from a humanistic education.

Try figuring out the name "Sean Bean"...

Poor guy dies in almost every film he acts in, except for "The Martian" where he's just forced to retire.

I always use white wood tee's, get a bag of 500 every spring. Then seperate them into 100 pc bags.

Hears the BIGGIE "I always clean my irons after every shot, And put the covers back on."

Sorry..... :read:

Never new this was such a biggie.....

I'm fussy about looking after the course. By that I mean replacing divots, raking bunkers, fixing pitch marks and not leaving any rubbish behind (no matter how small).

I hope by treating the course well, it will treat me well. After I have just raked a bunker full of other people's footprints, I know that I deserve the next shot to be good.

Keep my tee tucked into my hat, near my temple, on the right side only. After the shot it immediately goes right back into the hat. If it breaks I go get one from the bag and put it in the hat, even if i wont need it until the next tee box. Also serves as a backup ball marker / divot tool in case something happens to the one in my pocket or someone needs an extra.

Thug is also kind of crazy about his guitar equipment. He keeps his fx board upsidedown over the top of his amp so neither get coated with dust. Always puts his axes in their cases, and always washes his hands before playing. And Thug will not hand his guitar over to someone unless they have washed their hands.

For me it is keeping my equipment pristine. I wipe down my club after every shot, and after the round I thoroughly clean them.

Depending on the weather I clean my grips weekly, as well as wash my golf gloves. When a glove gets to be a bit worn, I use that for practice and the new glove for play.

I also look for golf balls once a week after I complete a round of golf. I don't need any golf balls (I have about 50 dozen), and I also don't need to be fighting with briars, poison ivy and mosquitos. Yet I am compelled to search.

I also clean/polish my shoes regularly.

What are you OCD about...or should I say anal retentive? :-)

I'm the see way!

Also, I hate not using headcover on woods and putter. My buddies do it just to irritate me.

Keep clubs constantly clean and in the same slot in my bag. Also, I need to keep my head covers clean. I put plastic over them when they are in my garage and in my car. Friends think I am nuts.

Probably nothing more than anyone else But left pocket w/ divot tool and ball marker, right pocket 3 long tees and 1 shortie. Clubs all in right place: driver/3 wood together, 20, 23 hybrid, 5-6 together, 7-P together, G,54,58, putter together.

The only thing that I have a serious problem with is picking up tees on the tee box. Anytime I get above 5 tees, gotta put em away.

Clubs all in the right place. Tees, gloves, golf balls, flask, etc. in the proper pockets. And for the love of god, fix your damn ball marks on the green. Also, for some reason on a par 3, I have to use a broken tee or a random tee I've found, I cannot use the usual blue marked tees that I use on other holes.

Some of my "favorite things" have been mentioned by others:

  • Fix ball marks on greens
  • Keep ball marker ready (clipped to cap bill)
  • Keep clubs in order (also, I count clubs at first tee to make sure I only have 14; I play local amateur circuit, and starter encourages spot checks; he'll safeguard extra club until round is over)

Some specials just for me...

  • Must decide on No. 1 tee if turf conditions and mowing dictate 2¾- or 3¼-inch tees for driver the day. (I also prefer the 2 ¹/8 tees for irons and FWs.)
  • Won't ride with a player who constantly leaves wedges behind at the green. (Constant "go backs" mess up my shot routine)

I'm OCD about clothing logos in an odd way. On one hand, I wouldn't wear a Nike shirt or hat with Adidas shoes, but on the other hand, I don't want to be that guy who shows up at the course looking like he's got an endorsement contract and then struggles to break 80 from the whites... I generally match the shirt and shoes or the cap and shoes and try for a "neutral" brand or no brand on the third piece. As in, I'll wear Adidas shoes, an Adidas cap and a Target C9 shirt with the subtle logo. Or, I'll wear Puma shoes, a Puma shirt, and a Black Clover cap, or maybe a Yankee or Tottenham Hotspur cap if I'm wearing blue. I pretty much avoid branded pants/shorts except for some Izods, which are discreetly marked, and don't pay too much attention to the glove, although I do have some Taylor Made gloves, as in my brand of irons, at the moment. I like tone-on-tone logos like the C9 logo, and on some Adidas and Mizuno items.

Slow play! You should either be getting ready to hit your shot, or in the act of hitting your shot. Everything else is wasted time. Get out if the cart when your riding partner is hitting and go to your ball.......please.

Ball Brand

I am particular about using balls that might cause me embarrassment

even though the brand never comes up unless you lose a ball in a 4some and everyone is helping look for it.

I used to be OCD about club Brand , I started out with an all Cobra bag but found the Ping G series irons much better

so I broke free of it.

Now I run a Cobra Driver, Mizuno Fly Hi , Ping G30 Irons, and Vokey Wedges. I am glad I got over that OCD, because the right club at a good price deserves to be in your bag.

Ha, so many of these apply to me as well (no stickers, clubs in the correct slots, keeping clubs clean, etc). My strangest one is that my fairways (3 and 5) have to be the same brand, model, and have the same shaft. Also they're usually the same brand as my driver. I cannot explain it, but it's always been one of my idiosyncrasies.

I agree except if you are waiting on the group ahead. Nothing worse than standing in the fairway with a club in hand for 2 minutes. I grab my club only when the group puts the flag back in the cup.
