Only time will tell. Enjoy his stuff with Lockey so hope that continues, can't imagine why it wouldn't.

More than a little skeptical about how the club testing will go now with a contract for Titleist, but not for me to second guess what he thinks is best for himself and especially the family.

Can only wish him good luck.

The way I read Mark, I don’t think it will make a jot of difference to his reviews. I remember him doing a review of a box set where he shot par over 3 holes. He doesn’t really play competitive golf so I have never thought that he is trying to max out on his scoring...it’s all about enjoying the course and the company he’s playing with. Truth is, he could play any club in the Titleist range (or any other range for that matter) and it will make very little difference to his vlogs.

With the club reviews, again it will make very little difference. Since he’s been playing the MP5s, I’ve heard him mention them in the context of a review about three times and then it has only been in reference to the look and perhaps the lofts. For me, Titleist are a pretty middle of the road OEM which makes decent equipment but nothing that is outstanding and this should be just fine.

Looking forward to when the contract is nearing its renewal to see which of the other OEMs enter the bidding.

as he is all about performance... i wonder what happens, if he tests a club that works better for him. he can't put a (lets just say) a M3 driver in his bag now? or can he?

It’s not really accurate to say he’s “all about performance,” though. He’s all about the notion that, with slight variations here and there, the OEMs make the same sort of stuff and that the skill of the player overrides the technology. So from that standpoint, going all Titleist doesn’t really change much. I expect him to keep saying what he has always said about premium equipment: the clubs in my bag perform basically the same as other clubs, but I do like the way they look and feel!

I bet the money and the access will improve his channel, though.

A few months back he reviewed the Titleist MB irons and was having kittens and orgasms over the look, feel and performance. I fully expect him to be gaming them.

I'm sure his reviews will still be impartial as opposed to Rick Shiels who seems to let costs make his mind up. If it's expensive, he will be positive, cheap he'll slate it. His view of Benross being too hard: no spin and too chunky was laughable as those stats were better than the Epically expensive Callaway offerings.

I was liking his new on course reviews but they have gotten less about the equipment imo. It’s neat to see they perform in real world situations but he seems less interested in the actual clubs and more interested in how the videography looks.

I want to know all the clubs tech, shaft options etc. then provide playability review.

You've missed his point then. It IS about how they perform on course. Banging shots on a sim indoors, excluding the poor strikes, fretting about 200rpm of spin, and pontificating about materials and CG locations mean nothing if you can't play them on a golf course. And talking about shafts and marketing fud aren't constructive.

Please, shaft options is huge and has a major impact on how the club will play and if it is suitable to even look at. I play Project X LZ. I’m not gonna waste my time looking for clubs I can’t get that in or is a massive upcharge. He used to actually talk about the clubs now it’s just videos of him playing

If he signed with Mizuno I would understand as he is a huge fan of their irons for years. Crossfield has gone to the dark side and sold out.

I've already unsubbed from his Youtube Channel.

Long live Shiels....

I like Mark's older reviews better than his newer stuff and have a bit of an issue with his view on Shafts . I have heard him on occasion say things like

Shafts don't matter or simply exclude shaft details when doing side by side comparisons.

Good for him if he has a sponsor

Has any youtuber with more than 100k of followers not signed up to brands, Shiels has been through several companies, Finch the same and me and my golf must have about 40 sponsors!

The thing i think we'll see is that Crossfield will have more info and access to get more decent content, which is never a bad thing, i'm hoping he does a bit about the TPI centres, as well as the R&D that Titleist pride themselves on.

Oh, no, I hadn't thought about that! Does this mean Mark & Lockey have to wear strangely annoying matching outfits now?

I think Lockey will be callaway forever, he tried to get Crossfield to move but it just didn't happen, i blame the chrome softs.

I still hold out hope that Shiels and Potter do the nike version of me and my golf!

I guess I’m the only one disappointed...that Crossfield didn’t go through that bag full of shiny new clubs! I guess we’ll get a new WITB soon, but c’mon it’s sitting right there!

I think this is a net positive if you like his reviews. Most golfers like us are familiar with Titleist clubs. They don’t change much from year to year, and therefore can be a good baseline for comparison with anything else.

Otherwise, most of Crossfield’s videos are not equipment reviews anymore. Course vlogs & instruction might not be as popular, but becoming more of a focus. Certainly more interesting than another variation on “I can see this club appealing to such and such segment of the market...if you like the looks and feels...so much depends on strike...go get fit guys.”

Anyway, I’m happy for the guy, not feeling his hands tied by producing ‘unbiased’ reviews anymore. (All reviews are biased, btw) I like his goofy style and look forward to some fun videos in 2018.

I've already unsubbed from his Youtube Channel.

Long live Shiels....

..as have Shiels, me and my Golf, Finch etc etc, are you unsubscribing from them as well?

Me and my Golf Channel never appealed to me. To me they're the Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum of golf.

I also thought it was odd that he didn't mention Coach in his video. But as Coach works for him with editing, as well as teaching I believe, I don't think he's going anywhere (hopefully). Hope he expands his reviews more and gets into some matches with Me and My Golf, and others, like he did in years past too.

Will be interesting to see how things change, if they change, but no one here can say that if a top OEM wanted to sign them to some type of contract you would say "NO", so to call him a sell out is a bit cheap IMO. I just hope they do continue to let him do him so he can do honest reviews. He's always seemed to like Titleist's offerings so it's not some surprise to see him praise them from here on out. They knew who he was before, so if things do change, it will be all on him. I say, congrats.

exactly, people just jealous.....

Most people sell themselves out daily going to a job they dont want to do for paycheck...this is selling out FYI

Good for him

I think the thing folk aren't asking is why are titleist doing this, must be a reason they're picking one of the youtubers to be a brand ambassador, it can't just be about having him playing with the clubs, that's why i think it'll be good in the long run, some new content that will be useful to both sides.

As for selling out, i think most of these guys put enough hours and effort into getting something back, at the start it would probably have been about getting their name out there and getting people in for lessons, but the guys named in this thread have all pretty much outgrown that.

1. There is another thread started on this.

2. Wrong forum--- should be in equipment section?
