Warrick's WITB - Titleist takeover?

Recommended Posts

Nice, thanks Warrick. Think I'll go 4 and 5 fli hi and the 900f's stay put!

I think you and your wallet will be happy. There was just not anything that made me think a switch was needed.

The slightly jacked lofts on the 900F just work for me, gaps are in place.

My 2 Tensei Pro Orange shafts (60s-70s) for diver and 3+ are getting finished at lunch today, gonna tough it out for a couple rounds in the 50's this weekend to test, then the the 20's and 30's are coming next week, may be shut down for the season outdoors.

I have never really hit a "high end' shaft, stoked for this trial.

Pro Orange shafts are money, playing driver at 47" and 3+ at 44", hit them great today. The ball just wants to go straight.

I like the fli-hi's more every time I play. I had 190 in after a perfect drive on a par 5 (was cool 50*), hit the 4 iron to 12 ft.

I am good to go, bag is dead set for 2018, desire nothing, except getting my Epic heads redone at Continental.

Closed season with a 78 with a double.

Great year, best golf of my life, best score ever this season with a 69....

As a fellow long time Ctaper guy......how do you feel about the modus 125 and the LZ shafts?

I pulled the 125 I have from the iblades and put them in my backup set of MP68s. I really like them in the 68s. I may be able to snag some Epon AF tour blades (currently have X7s in them....beast of a shaft), so thinking of putting the 125X in them.

Cheers,

D

I am quite happy with both, am definitely keeping both sets. The LZ's are a bit higher launch and spin, but that is what I was looking for. They really feel good. My buddy hit a few of my clubs yesterday, said the same, really liked the feel of the LZ.

The Modus is great also, shot my best ever round with them. They are both easier to play than the 130 Ctaper I was in, and 0 issues with my wrists and forearms this year.

Good to know about the LZs. I wouldn’t want anything higher than the 125. The 125 is the only shaft i’ve tried to date that seems to have a chance to unseat the Ctapers. The $tapers are intriguing though.

I have thought about those also, but prefer good no up charge shafts when buying a new set of irons. I am digging the LZ and Mizuno offers it, so easy call for now.

I am bad....

I sold my Epic 4H and a bunch of used shoes in the last 24 hours, one more item sells, and I am going to just finish out an MP18 combo set with 7-8 MMC and 9-P MB (1* strong) with the LZ 6.0 to match up with my 4-5-6 Flihi.

I knew once I had the 4-5-6 in the flihi, would be tough to resist finishing the set when I only need 7-P. I need a couple of those blades to put in my bag for certain days....lol.

I am infatuated with them....

I have not had a 4 iron in my bag in 4-5 years, and never get too excited about hitting a 5, until lately.....

I cleaned that 4 iron 200 in 50* weather off the turf twice on the par 5 18th last weekend.

I am sad the off season has arrived in the Midwest.....

Oh yeah, the guy that got me really started down the Mizuno path. I thank you, has been a fun ride going through all of the sets I have since those 64's I got from you. My wife may not fully agree, but that is her problem...lol.

You are in the same set, I have been though at least 7-9 other sets, have 3 almost brand new sitting in my basement now. I am just bad now, already planning on swapping out the 7-8 MMC for blades over the winter. It never stops.

I just got them late in the fall, limited rounds, but liking very much so far. It is a definite step up from the stock T800, feels sooo much smoother. perfect mid flight.

I seem to do pretty well with CB shafts.

Don't sleep on the white. Popped it in cold turkey before a Vegas golf trip 18 months ago and havent even considered another shaft since. Holds up to anything and doesnt want to go left!

Love this thread. Nice work. The pimped out metals from CG came out beautifully. Love all the putters too.

Have you compared the LZ to the standard PX in 6.0? Flight and spin differences? Also why did you go for the LZ over the Modus in the back ups? Cheers

Thanks guys, appreciate it.

I have not ever played normal PX, was in Ctaper 130's for 2 years, was having wrist\elbow issues, so wanted to try something easier on the body.

My set of 900F I have now with the Modus 125, was originally ordered with ctaper 130x. The 125 is awesome, and I shot my first ever 60's round with them this summer, and the 900F is a great club, just made the mistake of dabbling back in the MP world, 18's are just awesome. I also had a second set of 900F I just sold, had PX LZ 6.5 ssx1, and I liked those a lot also, but was starting to gather too many sets.

The LZ 6.0 are in my gamers, seem to get a touch more spin and launch than the Modus, but both are much smoother and easier to play than the c-taper. I am a low ball hitter anyway, but again both very playable.

For me personally, can't think of 2 iron sets I would rather have, including shafts. Self admitted Mizuno homer, also have 2 sets of T7's.

I actually have a Pro white 90S being built for my Epic 3H right now, pretty excited, not really liked the Recoil all that much.

I held off on the Rogue stuff, and the Custom Toulon for now, really happy with the set up for this coming season.

I got the e-mail, home track opens on Saturday, supposed to be close to 60 both days, first off at 11am Saturday and Sunday.

I just made 2 minor changes, new WinnAVS mid Pistol for the Custom V-Line Tank (been with SS for years, liking going back, more feel), and got the Pro White 90 back for my 3H yesterday. The 3H looks so clean with the refinished head, Pro White shaft and grey Pure Pro grip, just sexy.

I am proud of myself, lot of funds in PP, and have resisted Rogue - M3 - Toulon Portland, and a few other things. I am thrilled with everything in the bag, ready for the tee box Saturday morning.

Nothing too exciting for updates, been a while.

I have the Rogue SZ 3 wood in now, got the Pro Orange installed today. I love the 3H with the Pro white. I have been gaming an Odyssey #2W black, tanked for a few weeks and have putted pretty well. My custom was too heavy with the Winn, so had a Pistil GT 1.0 with CC installed and did a SAM Puttlab the other day. I hit up on it a bit too much, better just moving the ball slight back in my stance, very slight arc, almost SBST, as I expected. I hit everything consistent on the face, just that it is a bit toe side of center. I can already tell it is my alignment. He said I hit the mallet more consistent, so going to throw it back in this weekend with the new grip. I love both putters, same insert, same black shaft, both "tanked", so can just grab a different head to look at for a bit if thing go off.

I grabbed a "mint" CLK 22* hybrid of the BST the other day for a song, going to give it a go. I have not hit my 4 iron in the last 6 rounds, think partially due to lack of confidence. I was hitting it great earlier this season, but am off. so give the CLK a try. The 3H hs been great, hope I like the Speeder in the CLK.

Well, been a while, have made a few changes, tested a few things at the sim today.

I have the 919T with LZ 6.0,loving them so far (6-P). I have 3sets of T7's, so will be in the bag a while. My folks got a place in Palm Dessert, about to send out my 900F,set of T7, GBB driver, 816 3W. 815 Alpha 3-4 hybrids, and O-Works #2W, should be solid vacation set (headed out in Feb). MP18 combo will be home back up irons.

Nothing has touched the Epic and PO. I tried a few different 3W's at sim today.....lol. The Rogue SZ and PO blow everything away. Too much inconsistency with the 4i this season, did head to head against a new Apex 4H at sim today, Apex going right in the bag, was soooo much better. Fli-Hi 5i and Epic 3H with PW will go nowhere.

Only 2 changes possibly coming. If all info on new Epic SZ is correct, may make that move, and most likely a Stroke Lab #7 if adjustable weighting.

Silly season time in Iowa....

just bored this morning......

I tested T1100 EF white yesterday in the driver and Rogue SZ 3+ at the sim. I liked what I saw. It seems a bit stiffer in the handle, softer tip. I can get quick at the top, don't think the PO likes that. More testing to come.

The Apex 4H is fantastic, will be much more productive than the 4i.

irons\wedges, all good.

I do have my custom v-line fang tank at Continental for a refinish, going to copy the new stroke lab putters, need a different look for a bit, have done the "blacked out" enough. Dumping the SS grip also.

I know I am the only one posting in here, and that is cool......lol.

I have been playing the driver long for a few seasons now after terrible failure going shorter. I was at 46 last season, at 47 currently with PO, and have had better results. I started to get quite inconsistent later in the season, have been frustrated.

I recently picked up the T1100 EF whites and played the driver this weekend with it at 45.5" and dual sliders in the Epic, and was just money. The SW felt better than I ever remember when going shorter.

Was it the shaft, or shorter length? I guess time to start trimming the PO down to test, but think I will make first jump from 47 to 46.25, as it is CB, and have been told the EF T1100 SW's heavy.

Very excited about this, hit it so well yesterday, starting to forget about new driver releases. I am also testing that shaft in a Rogues SZ 3+, results have also been good.

hybrids are locked in with irons and wedges, also Rogue SZ is in, just 13.5, or 15, and EF White or PO.

I bought another set of 900F from the GG sale for $409 , 4-G with LZ 5.5, too good a deal on such an awesome iron. I am pulling the MP18 fli-hi 5 iron in favor of the JPX 900F. I played my 900F one round this weekend, reminded how good they are, 5i is easy to hit, and the LZ 5.5 will provide a bit more laumch and spin over the Modus 125 in my current set.

More testing between the EF whites and PO's to come, and with the putter getting redone, may not change a single thing for 2019. I will wait to hear more feedback on the Flash SZ.

I like how this is shaping up, hit it well yesterday.

I love this thread as your predilections towards certain clubs match mine. Have the 919T on your recommendations and they're going beautifully. The Fli Hi in the 5 iron is also terrific. Why is the 5i in the 900F better for you do you think?
