Tp5 from Project (a) ?

Sorry to bump an old thread, but this video came out not too long ago.

 

 

Rick Shiels (if you're unaware, PGA Teaching Pro, YouTube celebrity) tested the Project (A)'s, as well as the TP5 series. He was very very surprised by how well the Project A balls perform for the price point. Not any real significant differences between them & the much more expensive TP5 balls. Nearly identical spin rates, ball speeds, and distance totals/carries. He plays at much greater than 100mph swing speed and uses X flex shafts.

 

So I don't really think your daughter would benefit at all to switching over to the new golf ball. If she does, it's most likely a mental/placebo thing.

 

I'd say stick with Project (a) because they are so similar, and they are cheaper. Plus, you can't get the TP line in that bad a** yellow/green color.

Agree with you on the tp5 vs the project (a)

switched her to the srixon qstar tour with some great success - found it a little longer and similar spin around green

I play the Project A at 112mph and they work just fine for me.I wouldnt say she is losing anything

Ditto this. For some reason the Project a is the longest ball I've played w similar swing speed. Go figure...

+1 Although I've never played the TP5s yet, I have played the Project A against their Tour Preferred, Lethal, and Penta balls and I can attest that the performance of the Project A is VERY similar to TM's previous tour calibre balls. The only difference I noticed was the feel off the putter. It wasn't a clicky feeling...just different. If she can handle that then she should play the Project A but nothing wrong with playing the TP5 if she wants a traditional Urethane feel off the putter.

Aren't the Project A and the Rocketballz Urethane basically the same ball?

I remember they discontinued RBU right when the A's came out.

 

I occasionally will buy a bulk box of used RBU off eBay.

They spin like crazy on the greens!

I think they're different. Taylormade has a social media guy that used to be active on Reddit. I think the difference was that the Project a was cast urethane.

 

Also Wal-Mart's in my city still carry RBU and the Nike 20XI
