Titleist Tour Soft

Anybody know anything about the Titleist Tour Soft ball? I saw it briefly on a Titleist commercial while live streaming Golf Channel over the weekend. It showed up at the end of the commercial when they list all the different ball models. Google results with only a few hits, best one is what looks like a preview page on Rock Bottom Golf.

My best guess is this is what the AVX will become in 2018?

Does anyone actually use an NXT?

About once a year I find an NXT Tour (never the NXT Tour S) in the rough, etc. on my home course. By comparison, the Velocity is probably 10x more common and is the only non-ProV1/Prov1x Titleist that I typically see.

For years now the NXT Tour has been one of the worst value-for-money propositions in the world of golf, even allowing for Titleist's usual slight brand-recognition price premium. It's not especially long, doesn't spin a lick around the green, certainly isn't "soft" and it costs a packet.

Love the NXT Tours, but not @ $45/dz. here. I can buy urethane covered balls for that price. $35/dz. would be a better price point, IMO.

Not everyone shops at Rock Bottom Golf and not everyone buys balls two dozen at a time in an "Ammo Box". Titleist is extremely popular among retail buyers at golf course pro shops. Also, some people don't give a damn about the difference between twenty bucks and forty bucks for a box of golf balls.

If people didn't care, surely they would not buy this product anyway then and would just buy the pro V1. Also, the "ammo box" comment is a bit insincere as that is just a few of the products. Most (by far) are shipped in their normal boxing.

My dad claims to have hit is furthest ever drive with an NXT. But other than that, I haven't even "seen" one out on the course. People either spend the extra on the ProV1 or don't spend and just settle on the Velocity or another manufacturer.

I remember a guy I played with some years ago telling me he used the NXT Tour because he wanted a high-performance ball but "wasn't good enough" for the ProV1. In his mind "Titleist" meant "high performance" so he just bought the second most expensive Titleist ball in the pro shop.

Like it or not decades of consistent, relentless, on-message marketing and advertising definitely influences people's buying decisions.

I played NXT Tour S for a while as the Practice balls were $6 /dz. Not a terrible ball imo and feel pretty nice off the putter imo.

Don't play them anymore, and won't be playing the Tour Softs, but at the right price, not a bad ball.

Is it 2 piece surlyn? It wasn't very clear to me based on the description on the rockbottom web site. 35 seems way too high. But, as others said, some folks are brainwashed thinking titleist has the best ball. Perhaps, it just looks better/cooler etc if you are in a regular group. Cut and MG are just as good if not better - but, not brand names.

So it seems we all agree with the pricing of these/NXTs. Would be interesting to see the sales data on these balls, since it seems we would not buy this ball?! Why is Titleist making this ball, it must have good sales? :to_become_senile:

On that same rockbottomgolf website you can get two boxes of prior generationBridgestone b330 for $40. Who in their right mind would buy this surlyn Titleist product for 35 bucks?!

Companies pride themselves on finding morons clearly.

Ehhhh. My dad. He's the type that will tell you that "a golf ball is a golf ball". I didn't have the heart to tell him how bad a decision it was when he was rocking a premium tour ball on the first tee. Yup. NX T Tours. I did hand him a sleeve of actual premium balls and he didn't like them. Granted he's a low draw player so he can skate by with the lack of spin these provide....

He's just in the wrong location. Being 20 yards short of the front and praying the roll gets him close to the pin from 160 is where he's best anyways. Granted Tour urethane balls won't fully fix that but he could half a lot more greens with them. I guess he's practicing for that Ireland trip.

I used to play NXT Tours when they were at the $35pp CND. They just worked for me. Felt like it was a good middle ground. When they crept up to $45 i started to looking for a new ball but kept jumping around but not playing a ball consistently. I played a season with prov1s but switched last year to the Vice pro+ and have been super happy.

If they kept it in competition with the bridgestone e line i think more people would play them.

I've had a few tour soft test balls and really like them. Very soft cover. Much softer off the putter than pro v with minimal click which is to my taste.

I heard they will retail for £25 (pro v generally £40 in UK). Have played chrome soft lately as there have been some good deals price wise but the tour softs are performing better for me. I'll buy them from day to day play.

I hope the Tour Soft is a real thing. I hate clickiness of the Pro V line and don’t want to spend north of $35 for golf balls. I hope they bring this back or to the fulll US market. It seems the AVX is something different. Not sure they were both available at the same time.

The Tour Soft is real. It's a 2 piece surlyn covered ball that appears to be replacing the NXT line. It is on the USGA comforming ball list. 342 dimples. Available in white and yellow. In another thread here it states the Tour Soft will be $35/dozen. Same price as the NXT line.

I actually like the NXT Tour. I prefer a ball that feels firm. I play a Pro V1x in the middle of the summer when conditions are very firm, but most of the time I play the NXT Tour.

I don't think that I am going to like this new ball. I might end up playing the Velocity in softer conditions.
