Curious what the word was re: release of the Forged Tech??? Later in the year or Spring.

Also, what are the differences between the Forged Tech and the CB?

Cobra irons and Tour Trusty wedges are fabulous!!! Their former AMP Forged, Fly-Z+, and now KING Forged Tec irons have been, and are, extremely overlooked. They're wonderful irons with a beautiful tour shape, thin top lines, and yet are roughly 1/8" larger than standard forged cavity backs.

A LOT of people on this site could benefit from such an iron. Way too many small muscle back users here!!

Stupid question here but how would they compare in size to a 690mb or a 716cb? I have always wanted to try the Cobra MB/CB set but don't want to spend the money on something I can't really hit. I am currently playing the old 690mb's and they seem to be a little longer/more forgiving than most blades. Thanks!

I can't speak to the 690's or 716's, but I can tell you the heads are the same size as the Wilson Staff FG Tour 100 blades, with the CB's ever so slightly larger.

If you got the Cobras, you would then be wondering why you didn't get them sooner, i guarantee that. They look better at address than anything on the market. A combo set is perfect!!

TEC have a welded face like AP2, Apex CF16, etc. CB is a 1 piece forged with tungsten plugs, and more traditional lofts. Head shape is more compact and thinner also. Basically an entirely different head.

Thanks for this!! I had a set of CF16’s and REALLY didn’t like them at ALL. They had steel fibers in them and the feel (sound?) was awful. Also, issues with flyers out of intermediate rough. I know many on here think they are “All that”, but just didn’t work for me. Has turned me totally away from that type of iron.

FWIW, I was fit for both and the CF16 were horrible. The TEC were in another league. Just pointing out the face is forged and welded like the CF16. The similarities stop there IMO. The TEC wen't head to head for me with JPX900 Forged. Price won out in the end as I couldn't stomach paying the $1200 for the Mizunos.

So a MB/CB set would be pretty sweet? I have been switching out my 690mb's and my Srixon 545's but just wanted to know about the size/forgiveness of the Cobras. Would it be a safe assessment that the Cobras are maybe the size of the 945's? I live in an area that doesn't offer a lot of hands on, especially with Cobra. Thanks guys. Love the input/feedback here.

If you are playing 690's right now you will have no issue playing the Cobras. They are quite small, but are very forgiving for their size. If you are afraid about the size just go all CB instead of a mixed set. That is what I did and I came from a decently larger forged cavity iron (similar to Apex size) and have zero issues. I think the 945 (Srixon I assume) is roughly the same size with the Cobra probably being a tad smaller. I have only hit my buddy's 945 and haven't 1-1 compared them.

I was thinking of a Tec/Forged CB combo but the lofts basically mean I would have to go 5/6/7 tecs and 7/8/9/PW in the CBs

My OCD will not allow me to play 2x 7 irons! lol

If you are playing 765s then you can play a full set of CBs no problem. Forged Tec is gonna be more of a distance players iron. I am considering getting a Forged Tec 4 iron to go with my set of CBs but could never do a true blended set with them.

I see the European release date is 1/19 (Friday).

Can't anyone find out/disclose the US release date?

Why in the hell are clubs released in Europe/Far East before the US?

So based on the description the back finish is different than the current model? BB

I think the Diamonized Black was the finish that was described in the last set. Not sure they overtly marketed it though.

I can't find a decently priced set of MB/CB's anywhere. I want to try them but no one near me carries Cobra. I don't even know the hour drive to PGA Superstore would help me out. I don't remember seeing any cobra irons there when I was there a few weeks ago.

Why make the drive without calling them and asking them if they have stock? lol
