Does anyone have confirmed details on the addition of the D grind? Actual details not rumours or speculation.......

The D grind will sit between the S and K grinds on the playability chart, meaning that it will have a higher angle of playable bounce. I was told by Aaron Dill that the D grind is similar to a high bounce M (10º bounce instead of 8º) that was available in WedgeWorks but with more playability. I think it will be a huge addition to the SM7 line for players that have a steep AoA or play in soft conditions but still need the versatility with an open face.'

I've been playing the high bounce M ground (10º) for over a year now and love it. This initial leading edge on 3/4 shots has a much better change of not digging when I get steep because of its initial leading edge measured bounce angle being very high. Too many players have chosen the K grind because they may take deep divots and it's listed as the most effective bounce... but in truth the K is the worst for anybody that has the steep AoA on 3/4 and full shots because of the measured leading edge bounce which is much much lower than the stock M or the S.

Wow very interesting. I've played the K grind in the SM5 and SM6, but will definitely be checking out the D grind this year. Sounds sexy

Don't quote me, wait til Tuesday of this coming week and you'll see everything about the SM7 from the PGA Merchandise Show. The D grind is 10º of playable bounce and is available in the 58º and the 60º. The J grind was, so I was told, a K with a trailing edge ribbon grind that allowed the sole to be laid back to increase loft without the effect of raising the leading edge off the ground as much as normal.

Think of the D grind as a more aggressive M, higher measured and effective bounce, with the toe, trailing edge, and heal relief for all around playability on "touchy feely" shots.

Still waiting to hear back from you about lefty models my friend!!

Don’t they usually offer essentially everything other than the special wedge works in lefty? I can’t think of one that wasn’t offered last year. Only club I’m aware of in Titleist line that was missing last year was the 17* hybrid.

No pro here, but S grind was far superior for me than K grind when testing wedges - now the fitter didn't say anything about my steep AOA (and it is) and although he was looking at numbers the numbers really weren't part of the conversation, but the results and the way I hit the ball was different with the S grind. And, whatever part it played, just didn't like the look of the K grind as well.

Might be real similar to the SM4 model 60/10, it had a sole grind real close to the M grind2d04d06bc09328cfdf7754df81a711e6.jpg

How easy is it to open up the face on the D-Grind for flops, etc.?

Not too bad. I have been playing a V grind 60º and I love it, super versatile, but the D grind is pretty good too. If the specs are true that is between a K and M grind, then it is great. Have been used to playing a 54º M grind bent weak to a 55º.

K grinds for me are great out the bunker but that is about it. D grind is a nice balance between M and K.

I saw the whole line up today. I was surprised how much I liked the dark, high shine, finish. The murdered out ones were relatively unimpressive in my opinion

I was really impressed too! They look great in hand.

Is the dark shiny finish more steel (grey) or bronze in color? It's hard to tell from the pics I've seen. Thx.

They are no where close to bronze.

They are like a smoke gray chrome.

Not to thread jack but I have a quick question. In a 60* wedge and played in burmuda grass which grind would be better suited for someone who's a picker and not a digger. S or M. Club would be used in bunkers also and around the greens and also out to 70 yards max. Thanks in advance.

Aww man, the murdered out black are my favorite! Can’t wait to see them in person

100% agree. They just posted the specs and some videos to the Vokey website and I think the black look terrible. The "brushed steel" as they're calling it, look really, really sharp.
