if you get the jet black then you pretty much have to opt for the $40 upcharge TI S400 onyx shaft too. if you don't then GTFO.

I respect this.

Does anyone have confirmed details on the addition of the D grind? Actual details not rumours or speculation.......

The D grind will sit between the S and K grinds on the playability chart, meaning that it will have a higher angle of playable bounce. I was told by Aaron Dill that the D grind is similar to a high bounce M (10º bounce instead of 8º) that was available in WedgeWorks but with more playability. I think it will be a huge addition to the SM7 line for players that have a steep AoA or play in soft conditions but still need the versatility with an open face.'

I've been playing the high bounce M ground (10º) for over a year now and love it. This initial leading edge on 3/4 shots has a much better change of not digging when I get steep because of its initial leading edge measured bounce angle being very high. Too many players have chosen the K grind because they may take deep divots and it's listed as the most effective bounce... but in truth the K is the worst for anybody that has the steep AoA on 3/4 and full shots because of the measured leading edge bounce which is much much lower than the stock M or the S.

Not to thread jack but I have a quick question. In a 60* wedge and played in burmuda grass which grind would be better suited for someone who's a picker and not a digger. S or M. Club would be used in bunkers also and around the greens and also out to 70 yards max. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like me... not a digger at all, but play bermuda courses with fluffy heavy sand bunkers. i play mostly square face shots. I always used the S grind in the past. I'll be replacing wedges soon and will probably stick with the S for 56 and 60... good all around grind.

If you open up and play more open face shots, go with the M. I found the M to dig slightly more in our fluffy bunkers... for my game... your game may vary.

The Jet Black stripped down to raw will look really good with the all black paint fill. I think the white paint fill on the chrome looks a little weird and I have the same look now with my SM6's Jet Black's stripped down to raw.

Another release and once again no raw(just raw) stock option. SMH .... This is unfortunate news!..I guess there are enough people that will pay the $195 for these as a custom option.

Don't love this from this morning's Home Page Story:

"The new black finish has gotten even blacker with black paint fills and graphics, but the grooves in the black wedges do not utilize the spin-increasing, groove-cutting process."

Don't really want to have to choose between style points and better spin. With that said, as a ho, I'm sure style points will prevail.

After all, if you're not intimidating your playing partners at the first tee, are you really living?

Thanks for the response. I'm relatively new to burmuda grass and it can be quite tricky.

Wait, what??

Why would the black color-way not have the better grooves? And further more.... If I "de-chrome" the grey wedge with some CLR will I still get glare? Played yesterday and damn near blinded myself with my lob wedge.

There is a good reason the jet black has different grooves. It is a dipped finish that has much less depth than the plated finish that’s on the Tour Chrome and Grey finishes. Those wedges are plated and that fills the groove more hence a different and larger original groove. After the finishes they should be identical

Not a big fan of the new Vokey or Cameron releases. It seems like Titleist is a little off their game this go and they're releasing new product just for the sake of releasing it.

Agreed. I don't see much innovation in their upgrades. Seems like they change the numbering on the club and call it an upgrade.

I'll be looking for a good deal on the SM6's

SM5 to SM6 was cool and it made sense but this change just seems like a money grab. I've played Vokey wedges for as long as I can remember but I'm making a switch finally. I'm a big fan of the PM grind/ Hi Toe idea so I'm going one of those directions.

See a lot of tour players with SM7 PW, GW, and SW but using a prototype 60. Anyone know what this is?

I think this happens a lot. The full swing wedges are a little more generic where there is a lot more personalization in the 60's based on the variety of shots the player wants to hit. I'm kind of the same way. I just want a wide sole and a lot of bounce on my PW, GW and SW but I like a ton of relief and very little bounce on my LW.

D, L, & K grinds seem to have some JP inspired stylings, especially with the top line.

Wouldn't this just be a L grind 60?
