It's amazing that people just can't admit something looks good. It's always gotta be a "well look at that, another copy of (insert model here)". I'm pretty sure the design market on head shapes is close to being maxed out and different tech/materials are the only difference we will see. With that being said, I'm not saying PXG is innovative with tech or anything, just stating that I think this looks good, regardless of what it is a "copy" of. Can't we just appreciate a good looking putter, or any club for that matter? I do think PXG makes quality stuff but so do a lot of manufacturers. Just like Scotty copying Ping with the Anser styles. Yeah, we get it, they look similar, but that doesn't mean it doesn't look good!

Thwy make great looking stuff, but nothing wrong with saying that they've done more than their fair share of sampling

Oh I agree with you. It's just getting ridiculous with people crying about PXG or any other manufacturer for that matter, copying a previous model. Every manufacturer copies at some point, no matter what the industry is. I just think people make way too big of a deal about it. End of rant I supppose

Bottom line is that it doesn't matter what PXG does all the haters will come out and criticize in some way. The Scotty / Ping reference was spot on. Also in reference to PXG's prices look at the cost of a Machine putter. I haven't seen one negative post on the cost of a Machine putter.

Anyway let's see how many post it takes for another "hater" to comment.

first - no one is a 'hater' b/c they're remarking one item looks like another -- that's what we call an observation.

second - the scotty/ping/dh89/ma66/etc has been observed, referenced, and documented forever -- it's a given that that head shape is 'ok' to copy - since, everyone has done it and no one IS SUING ONE ANOTHER OVER IT.

third - the reason you don't see anyone balking at the cost of a machine putter is b/c they're a boutique, partially handmade, and for all intents and purposes - a niche putter maker.

...let's see how long it takes for your feathers to come to rest.

I think this is hilarious, I can just imagine Bob during the whole lawsuit over P790s telling someone "Oh yeah? Think you can take one of MY designs?? Well I'll take one of YOURS!"

This is the level of petty I aspire to. Incredible.

:download: :download: PXG is great. They are uber-expensive Ping copies and, now, a Spider to sit down beside you and grab  $500 from your pocket. It's not heresy to point out the obvious and if you can afford it and need to have it to show your pals, have at it. But don't get cranky when others point out the issues ! :black eye: :sorry:

I always wonder how often similar-looking putters like this are tour-driven. In other words, CHIII wants to putt with a Spider, but is under a 14 club contract with PXG (don't know that, just assuming) so PXG says, "Give us some time, we'll make one you might like" just like Odyssey did with Red putters.

The greatest irony is anybody criticizing this "copy-cat" environment in golf and then has a Scotty Newport, 009, Byron Dale, in their signature, as if they fail to recognize just how limited successfully original head designs are.

I need new clubs

Umm, I think you are missing the irony - you know the bit where Bob Parsons of PXG is taking TM to court for copying?

It has nothing to do with PXG v. Taylor Made. Just stating a point that people need to get over the whole “who’s copying who” thing because it happens all the time.

Pretty sure the people whining about clubs being a copy are the ones who are cranky. I don’t even own one PXG club and probably never will. That doesn’t mean I’m going to bash them because of how they operate or what club designs they use.
