JJ Henry WITB: 2018 CareerBuilder Challenge

They are a brand so I don't have a problem with any of them having a logo. They are promoting themselves and have a "brand" logo to be associated with.

What's JJ Henry's brand that he has to promote?

Regardless if you or I feel they have something to promote doesn't matter. They are self employed so a logo gets them and their brand noticed regardless. Some "brands" aren't as big as others but doesn't mean you shouldn't try to promote it and make it bigger than what it was yesterday.

I'm sure there are business/tax reasons for having a trademarked and registered logo. It may be as simple as another operating expense against income.

isn't it ironic that we are talking about what a non-existent "brand" JJ Henry has and yet it is now been talked about more than ever, on here at least anyway!

On a side question does anyone know how JJ putts nowadays? Know he used to wield the Belly Putter pretty well. From the look and length of the Odyssey 7 putter I'm guessing he is using the ArmLock method?

The difference between what we are talking about and TW and IJP like other have mentioned is that those guys have (or had) a tangible brand with products for sale and overhead to cover. A brand that needs marketing to impact sales of their products. I was originally commenting on the guys that have nothing to sell but their ego. There’s a difference between a brand and a “brand”.

Its not just that they're selling their ego, there's just something weird and superficial about athletes presenting themselves as a brand when they don't actually have a clothing brand, etc.

I'm not sure if I can describe it exactly, but it's almost like corporate and marketing culture has invaded our lives to such a degree that we now think any public person should have their own "brand". As if you can hire graphic designers, marketers, PR people, etc. and now this elevates your status somehow. It just feels inauthentic and, to me, it somehow cheapens everything. Slapping a corporate veneer onto every person just doesn't seem right. I dont want to have a world where every single person needs their own "brand".

If only it helped win tournaments.

There was a shot of him putting at Sony and it looked like he was not arm locking but the putter looked a bit longer, 41" maybe?

Thanks a lot for that. Must be using a Counter Balanced version as it does look longer than standard. The Counter Balance putter alternative to Belly/Broom never really seemed to take off did it.

Nice setup, something I would expect to see at my club on weekends!

I guess JJ could stamp all his clubs with "JJ" like his wedges, or he could choose to make his own signature stamp which to me looks a lot neater. I'm sure he doesn't give a tinker's cuss what a bunch of keyboard warriors like us think about his personalized stamp.
