P790 UDI's - Any news on these vs the full set p790s?

Only 17° as far as I know, could always bend it to 19° if you prefer

How long do you guys play udi last at? Do you let it fall in you set, example 39.25 3 iron then 39.75 2 iron or you you play it an extra 1/2-1 inch?

I play +0.5" on all irons but 2i is 1.0" since its mainly off the tee and with a graphite shaft. Gives me a few extra yards compared to when I started with same shaft as in irons and length matched to follow

All my irons are +0.5 over Tm standard compared to my vapor pro irons and I had one DI play +0.5 but I think I’m going +1.0 this time.

I’m seeing that the general consensus is to order the UDI longer than standard length. Anyone know what standard length would be on the UDI and how much longer would be best?

Standard previous Tm udi 2 iron was 39.5 so take it for what you want. I’m building my TM UDI at 40.5 but my m2 LIFT was 39.75

I saw crazy listed prices for these not too long ago...one listed at $1500. Haven't checked since but I suspect TM announcing the 2-iron will come to retail has got to kill the market on these. $1500 is ridiculous regardless, but I assume the thought on that price point is you can't get it retail. 3 iron yes, but in a UDI not sure.

Was referring to the udi version of the 3i. With the lowered profile and reduced offset.

I think the 17* #2 iron 790 is all you're going to see at Retail!..

 

Maybe it will the UDI stamp, or maybe not...

 

I expect the #1 UDI to remain a 'Tour only' club, an don't see much need for a #3 since a 790 3-iron is available now.

Yeah I’m sure the 3 udi is a tour only for reduced offset and that you will only see the 2/17 at retail which works just fine really. I don’t think Tm needs to offer the udi in 1,2&3 like last time since it’s right between the 1&2 udi of the past at 17 degrees.

For those who may not recall...

 

The original TaylorMade 'Tour Preferred' UDI's were sold at Retail as a #1 (16*), #2 (18*) and #3, 20*, but then along came the RSI TP version of the UDI which added a #4 (23*), and a #5.(26*) model. Despite the RSI in the name, the RSI UDI's do not have the dreaded RSI 'face slots', and aside from the RSI TP logo are actually identical to the original 'Tour Preferred' UDI's, with the same C-Taper LIte 110 stock shaft.

 

However, having said that, I was able to acquire a rare 'Tour Preferred' UDI #4 (23*) head which was only available as a 'Tour issue' head. I then added a .355T C-Taper Lite 110 4-iron shaft, which as mentioned above is the stock shaft for my #1 and #3 Retail 'Tour Preferred' UDI models.

The guy who runs the TaylorMade performance centre near me here in the U.K. confirmed that the 790 UDI will be #2 only

 

In all honesty there’s no need for them to release the UDI 3 iron when they have the normal 790 3 iron....I’ve got one and it’s an absolute rocket!!

 

The regular 3 iron doesn’t have that much offset and is still a thinner top line than the old UDI’s
