Anyone watch the videos, or buy the dvd's of Cameron McCormick's Skill Code? If so what did you think good, bad, helpful, not helpful, overpriced, to simplistic, too complicated, too many drills, too little drills, too many concepts, too little concepts, based on myths or science? What are your thoughts, and would you recommend it to someone else?

Just purchased and downloaded the Skill Code videos from Revolution Golf two days ago and already consider the money VERY well spent. Especially for the digital download price of $37. Be sure to have a fairly fast internet connection, as the whole set of 48 videos plus bonus interviews ends up being nearly 20 GB of material. Having taken approximately 15 private lessons this year at $50 per half hour with an excellent local pro (which have been VERY valuable as I'm 65 and now getting back into the game after a 20 year absence), I find that Cameron McCormick teaches techniques and ways to approach the game my private instructor was never able to approach due to the time limits of the lessons. I'm very excited to get out and try some of Cameron's drills and concepts, particularly one involving "embracing your natural curve" rather than fighting it. We all deal with hooks and slices, wishing to be able to turn them into smooth draws or fades. Right in the first set of videos, he demonstrates how to do that. YES!

 

Cameron breaks down the various aspects of the game in larger strokes then in more specific detail, in an easy to understand and very camera-friendly manner. (The videos are very professionally produced.) I can certainly see why certain pros have stayed with him and he keeps getting new ones. There is no question that in the long term, personal one-on-one instruction is the way to go. And a golfer like Jordan Spieth is amazingly fortunate to have had that experience with Cameron. But for those of us with budgetary limits and a "bit" older than 24, what could be better than occasional one-on-ones with a local pro plus a library of videos like this to supplement and review any time we like for years.

 

Let's face it. Hours practicing at the range are worth little if we're not practicing the "right way" to approach a variety of shots. For a beginning golfer, I'd still start with personal lessons. But once you have a good solid basis, the "Skill Code" is terrific. Plus Cameron's passion for the game is inspiring and makes you want to race out to the range and course to put those new skills into action.

 

GREAT investment in my opinion. (Not to mention less than the cost of a dozen good balls :)
