It sure appears to be an KK DC XT in a full range of flexes! I loved the DC XT Proto but TX flex was too much for my swing. I can see a XD 50 Stiff being in my driver in the future.

I spent a fair amount of time at the Mitsubishi tent. Good guys. Told them I was in the XT 60 X for a long time and still in my fairway. So, he knew I was a junkie and a XT loyalist :). That's when he pulled it out form under the table cloth....

It looks exactly like the photo above. In fact, the ONLY difference is the "D" vs "T" on the graphics. I gave him some crap about how they already made the most confusing shaft line in golf more confusing. ;) He was a good dude.

I only swung it a few times in a Epic Rogue head which I don't care for.....a few of them were nice little bullets (I hit the ball VERY high, typically) and now use a T1100 65 X flex. A few of them did sail a little high though....I'm guessing this was more a function of the head.

Long story short, it's was VERY stout (but it was a 70 X). I plan to at least try a 60 X. He thought it would fit me well based on the eye test and my current gamers. It's just a lot of shaft at that weight.

I think it'll be solid. Torque is SUPER low given how much the TINI wire was extended. If I'm correct, they DOUBLED the length of the TINI wire even over the KK DCT TX "XT". They added 6 more inches of it, totaling a foot, I think?

I bet we see it on tour, soon. A lot of guys love these.....although, Sergio is the only one that switched to the DC "XT." The rest are still in the old XT. Should be interesting.

So - low spin, mid/low launch with a STOUT feel (in the 70).

Hope that helps.

Did this come from the rep? I know Rory is still in the xts which I think became the retail xt if I’m correct. Always find it interesting how some guys find something they like and stick with it.

Rory is still playing the xts and it proto version of the retail xt with the silver tini graphics. I have one but haven’t had the chance to give it a run yet

In March, 2018, Mitsubishi Chemical will release the KURO KAGE ™ XD series.

"That shaft" that swept the world has evolved further. Titanium nickel · dual core is further low

It creates a strong trajectory of spin.

Receive tremendous support from the top players, direction stability, rigidity sweeping through

Leaving as it is, the long-awaited global model that brought refinement to the flight distance performance is born.

Even for players who are not confident about power, 50 grams have been added, many of which are requested from users

Including 50R that you can fly gently and 60TX that suppressed the trend of athletes' lightly hard "14

It is a lineup that can deliver the flight of the tour to a wide range of players with specs.

Two-layered titanium nickel "DUAL CORE" realizes even lower spin. Hit the distance up with toughness not to be defeated.

In the XT series released in 2015, "titanium nickel fiber" which has the property of recovering its original shape promptly even when it is deformed is compound molded at the tip.

In the XD series, we are pursuing even lower spin by evolving this titanium nickel fiber to "dual core" where it is arranged in two layers.

It prevents "hit loss" of the shaft tip part at the time of impact and creates a high trajectory of low spin.

So if I've got a KKDC 70TX would the 70TX version of this shaft be the same or is this completely different?

By the rough translation posted above, it would seem it is the same.

Thanks, I feel like the Kuro Kage line more than anything is much more confusing to understand/follow than any other shaft line out there.

It is a little confusing with retail and proto shafts. I’ve games a few of them and they are solid shafts.

Definitely interested in this....XT 70TX was one of the best shafts I've ever hit.

I think many people are missing the point. This IS the XT 70TX and 60TX.

It is the same Dual core, tip stiff XT shaft rebranded XD with its own graphics and in a full line of weights and flexes to choose from.

It’s good news for those wanting low launch low spin, but not in a TX flex. It’s a little surprising it took them so long to do it.

Yup! You are exactly right. Per Mitsu, the XTS is the SAME SHAFT as the XT. They just changed the paint around the words (Shiny rainbow type border around the letters).

I'm not sure that's accurate, actually.....here's how it was explained to me....these are all DIFFERENT SHAFTS

KK XTS/XT

KK DC

KK DC TX flexes (often called the "new" XT as there was no XT in the DC)

KK XD

If you look on Mitsu's Instagram page, RIGHT after Sergio won the Masters, they released the KK DC in TX flexes. I ASKED THEM in the comments if that was the DC "XT" if you will. They said, unequivocally, YES.

When I spoke with the rep in the tent last week, I was told the XD is entirely different.

This stuff is SUPER confusing to write about (and even discuss for that matter). But, he is one of their main reps. No reason to not believe that.

BUT....you are probably right that they are EXTREMELY similar, almost to the point of being re-branded. But, he was very clear the the XD has never exists before (i.e, its not just a TX version of a prior version of the Kuro line).

TOTALLY not arguing, just passing on what I was told! Heck, is possible I misunderstood even. I've owned nearly all of the variations and I even get confused sometimes! As I said, I gave him a heard time (in jest) about that

Right. I think XT and XM were also made with better materials than KK Silver/Black. Made in Japan as oppose to China or where ever they make Silver/Black

Yup! that's for sure correct. The stock KK black/silver/XM, etc are all more "budget" shafts vs the whole XT family which are premium, higher end materials.

It's interesting that the info from Mitsu, above, says it's HIGH launch and low spin. I believe the previous XTs were mid/low and low spin.

"In the XD series, we are pursuing even lower spin by evolving this titanium nickel fiber to "dual core" where it is arranged in two layers.

It prevents "hit loss" of the shaft tip part at the time of impact and creates a high trajectory of low spin."

One thing I know is that the XD is supposed to have SUPER low torque.

Brother...what the heck? ... This thread is confusing enough. Don’t make it worse. The XT is the silver series. The XM is the black series. Right?

Mitsu is just trying to mess with our Brains I think.

The Dual core shafts have always had two layers of TiNi. That’s what the dual core means. It’s arranged in two layers. Sand and look at the tip of any dual core shaft before install. You can see the two distinct circles of TiNi.

On the “tour only” XT 70 TX and 60TX versions they took a “dual core” shaft and made it an XT profile by increasing the amount of wire in the tip to go up 13 inches in the shaft thus making the tip stiffer and lower launching.

The shaft that everyone wants to play on this web site is a Dual Core XT profile and it APPEARS that is what the XD profile is and is its own distinct full line now.......I think. My brain hurts now.

If it isn’t, Mitsubishi should be chastised for confusing the hell out of everyone.

It's not that confusing, really :)

There was Silver/XT. Very similar profile with XT being made in Japan with "premium materials" and costing more. They upgraded Silver with DC, now they are updating XT with DC and calling it XD.

LOL. Yes. Going in circles. Ok. The silver “dual core” and the silver “XT”, which were distinct and separated shafts, EXCEPT for the limited availability dual core XT 70TX and 60TX, which everyone on this site loves, including me,.....is now going to officially be offered as an “ XD” line with a fulll range of flexes and weights. Got it.
