Sounds like Rickie re-upped with both Cobra and Puma, so the orange should be sticking around for the foreseeable future.

It's weird that he has tungsten plugs put in the bottom of his MBs. Wonder why Cobra doesn't do that in the "for public" MBs. I get it, he wants higher launch and more spin, at that point, why not go with a full set of CBs?

It has been well documented that he does this for swingweight purposes since his irons are shorter than standard. It is an extremely expensive and time consuming process for Cobra to do this especially for Rickie. Zero chance that it will be coming to retail.

You think it would be easier for them just to start with a slightly heavier set of irons rather than go through all the effort to drill a tungsten plug into his irons.

Always found it strange that you'll pay the guy 7 figures to play your gear, but will modify stock gear to fit him rather than just make it from scratch. Same applies to DeChambeau - why not just create molds that are way upright instead of bending his set to death? Perhaps it costs more than I think...

The new set of MBs do have the tungsten plug on the bottom of them. Go to the link below and hover above the sole of the club to magnify the picture and you will see it. From what I can tell, aside from the paint, that is the only difference in the heads for this year.

Oh wow, you're right. That is interesting. I wonder why Rickie's are all ground down in the witb pics.

I know they aren't doing anything structural and they need to be built up to add weight but those beads look terrible.

Could have ran the welder a bit hotter

Agreed, looks like a caterpillar.

Maybe it was done "colder" so that the heat wouldn't screw with the temper of the head...just a thought.

The "country boy" in me loves the look though.

Cobra you got to try harder then this guys. That driver looks like a Chinese, Taylor-made M4 Knock-off yah know. Nothing worse then copying the coolest kid in schools style. You know Ricky is getting the faaaaaattest check to keep that driver in the bag. But the guy wins with these woods so more respect to Ricky.

Sometimes I wish we had a downvote button.

Says the guy that just preordered the Cobra King S8.

This is not a new blade. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills seeing all this about his new MBs. They just have a lil different paint, maybe a slightly darker finish. Same head tho. ee978002069211879c5d3e1624b18ecf.jpgd3947185b5bf979e766e909775321b53.jpg

It has been the same head since the AMP Cell Pro. You really can't change much there, I love the shape, offset, topline, size heel toe and squareness. A lot of people do when they try them out. You just need to like the "look" on the back too if that is a factor for you.

They did add toe weighted tungsten with the Fly Z model and continued it into the King lineup. Looks like Ricky probably has some extra tungsten placed in the center to lower CG even further and help with his own SW since he plays his clubs 1/2" short.

I was thinking it looked more like keloids (scar). For those not familiar....don't google it. Or google it if you want.

Now that was a good description. Never thought of keloids.

Are his 56 and 60 bent to 54 and 58? Is that what those stamping's appear to suggest?

Looked like Rickie had an even flow in his 3 wood today. The tee shot on 17 had a diamond in the shaft.
