Just curious to see what everyone else is using for a flat stick. What length, lie, loft, head weight, grip weight are you using? how did you get to what you have? trial and error, or fitting?

No wrong answers, just looking to see what is being used.

I'll start:

Bettinardi BB8 Tour Special (I believe is around 340g)

currently playing at 34" but choke down a bit on the grip

Just put on a bestgrips rancher which is 60grams

3* loft 70* lie angle

I just ended up with this with trial and error. Had some trouble with short soft putts with a heavier head. I like to choke down on the grip so i can hold it where it is comfortable at the time, I have had some back problems so by the end of the round i sometimes work my way back up the grip due to standing up right being more comfortable. I have never really messed with loft, have used from 3-4* but have never been fit. I also have tried mallets, (futura, futura x, daddy long legs) and a few see more center shafts. I just like the small profile of a blade and the flow neck half offset just looks clean and smooth. I like the looks of plumbers necks but not at address.

Bettinardi BB0 DASS, 355g headweight. I play it at 35” and choke down about half an inch maybe (messed around with 34.5” and 34.75” length and it felt funny). The lie angle is 69 degrees and loft is 3 degrees. I use a ionic midsize putter grip which is 75g I believe. I had a putter fitting at my local golf shop to figure out loft, lie and length for my stroke.

Got fit for an Edel putter, can not recommend their process enough, the difference from where I started (a 34.5", 330g Byron 007) to where I ended up is incredible.

68 degree lie angle, 35.5" in length, 2 degrees loft, Edel round grip.

I got the E3 head (most blade like) with two alignment lines on the top line and 1 alignment line on the flange. Reminds me a little bit of a gunsight turned on its side.

Biggest difference is the hosel which is back set, was literally a game changer when he switched to that.

Headweight is 345g but have a 50gm weight 2" deep in the handle.

Never would have put all this together with just trial and error. I'm now very confident I'm aimed where I think I am and the improvement in distance control has been nothing short of a revelation.

Currently in Odyssey 2 ball, but switching to another mallet soon probably.. Specs will stay relatively the same

34''

2* loft

72* lie

head weight 350 + 10g lead tape

Mid Slim 2.0 which weighs about 50g

SW is somewhere in the high D range

Fitting was kind of trial and error but also fed with real putter fitting data from SAM lab. I was fit into a blade but honestly I think it's because it's all they had there that met the SAM recommendation, which was 60* hang. However, I've made a few stroke changes and end up liking putters that have maybe half as much hang.. closer to 30*. The 2 ball I have is actually face balanced, which is why I am looking to switch. I had a Spider Tour which I loved, but the feel off the face wasn't for me.

How do you like the swing weight of this set up? Does the head feel pretty light being under 350 and with that much weight up top?

34”

350 gm Carbon

71-72* ( 1* upright )

Loft 3* At least that is the stock loft, haven’t had it measured.

SS GTR Tour grip. Left hand low.

34” just lets my arms hang naturally (5’9”)

Upright lie adjustment as I like my eyes just over or barely inside the ball.

350 head weight just feels about right, but could go a little lighter.

Love it, didn’t question the fitter, just kept dialing it in and this is how it ended up. I can switch out the weight to something heavier or lighter down the road if I want but for now it is perfect for me.

Anything more than right on a shaft offset and I aim left or close the face down at impact. The Kingston has closer to 1/2 shaft offset plus with the flange line, I'm aiming better. I also use a seemore mini giant df that has a 50g grip weight when things in my stroke get a little too steery and less swingy.

Tom Slighter Needle, face-balanced, 450 gram headweight, 74* lie, 3* loft, 34"

I need to keep my wrists out of the stroke; the heavy head weight promotes a shoulder or arms-and-shoulder stroke and the more upright lie angle makes it easier to bend my wrists down at address which also quiets them. The weight also encourages a longer, slower stroke which suits the medium-to-slow greens I usually play on as well as my internal clock and the slightly lower loft works with my minimal shaft lean and the putter rising into the ball. The length lets my upper arms separate a bit more from my torso at address which allows initial takeaway to mimic a straight-back-straight-through technique while actually tracing a small arc. The flow-shaft's location, anchored well behind the head, gives the sensation of pushing rather than pulling the putter which provides distance control.

I came to this setup after extensive trial and error.

34” over all

70° Lie

3° of loft

This is what I’m most comfortable with. I could see being a little flatter with the lie but I’m very comfortable with the loft of the putter. I could see being shorter than 34 inches overall length but again it’s what I’m comfortable with and I do choke down just a little bit. I could go down to a 33 inch Potter but I don’t want to hang onto it at the end of the grip.

I'm mostly standard

  • 35" length
  • 70* (black dot) lie
  • 3* loft

Head weight depends on the greens, so, 383g or 388g for fast greens and 350g or 355g for slow greens.

Stroke arc is either straight or slight. Since they're close, it truly doesn't make too much difference.

Grips are oversize or midsize, so I have PING PP65 on the heavy putters and PING PP58 Midsize on the traditional putters.

I like the optics of a long center line found on the Ketsch and the Rustler as it visually keeps things on line for me.

Standard loft and lie (3.5 and 70 I believe)

As a putter tinkerer for years, can't see myself using any other anytime soon. This putter was in my bag from April of last season through the end of the year. This is pretty peculiar as I'm a guy who has switched at the turn by running to my trunk.
