Hard time getting gamer out of the bag?

I’ve been putting with the same Newport Beach since I was a freshman in high school (which doesn’t feel too long, but it’s been about 15 years now... time flies...), but I’m also a bonafide putter hound. Over the years I’ve bought probably 30 other putters, but most only get a round or two of bag time. In fact, I usually just notice something I like about the new one and tweak my old trusty stick with a new grip, a little more or less length, a little more or less lead tape, who knows. But I always seem to come back to the old one, leaving myself feeling a little bit guilty and a little lighter in the wallet.

 

Anybody else have this syndrome? What’s the putter you can’t get out of the bag?

Odyssey White Hot #2. It’s gone from 34” to 35” to 34 1/2” back to 34”. Added lead tape, took it off, added again, now no tape. Back weighted it a couple times.

 

Now I’m thinking I need a new flow neck mallet. But I will not part with the #2.

The first piece of pro-line equipment I ever owned. A Ray Cook Nugget 18 putter that my mother bought me for my birthday. I think I was 16 or 18 years old. I'm now 51 and it still manages to find its way into my bag every year for a stint or two. Whenever my feel for distance is off, I can get that putter out and start rolling the ball nicely again. It gets about a month of game time every year until I can get my feel back. A couple years ago, I decided I wanted a back up incase something ever happened to the original. It took me 3 years to find one and I roll it as good as the original. Odd indeed but a lot of memories in that old stick. Take it from an old-timer like me...don't EVER get rid of it.

I had an odyssey whp 9 that I putted better than I ever have with. It just seemed easy to line up and get the ball going where I wanted, but I absolutely hated looking at it. Ended up trying a ton of putters, I believe I had 11 over a 10 month period, and none of them were better. I ended up just selling it because I didn’t wanna have it in my bag anymore, hopefully my new (to me) betti will perform once I can get outside

Murray, you're a couple years then me but in the same boat. I got a regular Studio Stainless Newport in high school and while I've had numerous sticks in and out of the collection since then my Newport has remained my regular gamer. I really wish Scotty would ditched the removable weights, the putters just don't feel the same.

Good example, look at Ted Potter Jr. He has a 18 year old OWH, #2 center shaft putter and just beat out the best field on the PGA tour.

Same thing here been using a Scotty Cameron Newport 2 gun blue since high school and can't find anything to knock it out. Ever time I start getting ideas about making a change it starts working again.

One of the gentlemen I occasionally play golf with is 76. He uses a putter his father used. It's more than 70 years old.

I have played Pro Platinum Newport mid slant since it was new. Not even trying to get it out of my bag,
