Evnroll ER9!!!

Middler

Recommended Posts

I game an Evnroll ER2 and it’s the best putter I’ve ever used.

I’ve always played blade or heel-n-toe putters but I’m thinking about buying a mallet style putter to give it a good long try - you can only tell so much putting on flat carpet in a store,

I was anxious to see the ER9, thought it might be the one I’d buy. And I may, but I’ll have to see and try one. Looking forward to reviews too. It’s certainly different looking and massive!

Wow... Kind of reminds me of the putter Nicklaus used to win the 1986 Masters. To be clear, this is a replica that was built afterwards but used it because these pics illustrate the difference in size.

Will be really interesting to see how it looks behind the ball.

How can you go from making a beautiful line of putters to making that?

I get that performance may be there but I would bet that >90% of putter sales are based purely on looks, then performance.

That’s going to disappoint a lot of people who have been waiting around for this.

As evidenced by my signature, I’d try just about any putter that will help me with the short ones, but I’m not going here. I am curious about how much this thing weighs; their ordinary putters are already pretty hefty.

That is the worst looking putter I've ever seen.

Not pretty, but worst?

I was also curious about this release, because I wanted to try Evnroll putters - just to know, if they would work better than anything I have tried so far...

...but to me, the ER9 doesn't look any better than my CURE RX5, it has less MOI (10k < 18k), is less adjustable (lie angle, weight), pricier (> 100$ +), and the RX5 works perfect.

However, I will try some of the better looking (smaller) offerings within the Evnroll line...

...just in case, that a lower MOI putter (like the ER8) works as good as the RX5.

Curious, if a putter has very high MOI what are you really giving up relative to a lower MOI putter (lets say an anser style putter) ? If this thing works, its going in my bag no matter how ugly it looks.

Well, I also like to enjoy the looks, that I can enjoy the game even more - but this is just a personal preference.

+1. Ugly almost always takes care of itself in my case. All personal taste, but if I consider a putter ugly, it won’t even make it off the rack for a trial - so there’s no chance I’ll buy it. Same for all other clubs for that matter. Looks are the first hurdle in purchasing a club for me. The only reason I’ll try the ER9 is because a) I love my ER2 and b) the ER9 looks OK to me, it’s the size that is alarming at least in pictures so far. I’ve never been tempted by large putters before. YMMV

Do you think, like I suspect, that MGS owns a piece of or is invested in Evnroll? They sure do fluff them pretty hard over there. Winner of both mallet and blade (twice) most wanted, exclusive release info, etc...

If your question is directed towards me:

I think they just like the man behind Evnroll, and his products.

I also think, that they probably like Ping a tad more than other big companies.

But I also think, that they honestly try to be independent.

And I am sure, that they know, that (their) independence is the biggest value possible in their business...

...and that they will continue to try hard to keep this independence alive.

-

If anything influenced the outcome of their putter tests, then it probably was the special enthusiasm of a majority of testers in regard of some products,

which unconsciously pushed the personal effort of some testers - building above average confidence...

...which helps in making good results in golf, as we all know.

Maybe you should also try the ER8, which is in my opinion probably the best compromise in regard of looks and functionality in the Evnroll lineup.

I’ve tried the ER6, 7 and 8 just out of curiousity before I was thinking about buying a mallet. Now that I’m considering a mallet, II plan to try all the Evnroll mallets, thanks.

That is the worst looking putter I've ever seen.

Not pretty, but worst?

The Taylormade Spiders are seriously awful looking putters, much uglier than this IMO... and they're incredibly popular. If it works, people will buy it I bet.

I can't wait to see the first ER9 on tour. What will Gary McCord say???
