Miura K Grind--How is it off tight lies?

Title says it all. My home course has super tight green surrounds and I'm wondering how the K grind performs for pitches and chips off such tight lies (open faced shots as well)

Depends. The 56* and 60* both have pretty high bounce as well, which I find not ideal for a mid-range pitch off a tight lie. The grind is good, but the bounce is too high for taste.

I've had K grinds for three years now - on my second set - my former gamers are about to be my practice range wedges. I play them at 55 and 59, which reduces the bounce by one degree to 11 and 12 respectively. The grind does offer some relief.

 

If you mean tight grass, I have no problem - be aggressive and confident. I play them in various stages of creativity around the green -- slightly open, also shaft slightly back, shaft down, and ball forward in stance, etc. as well as "normal" shots - mid stance. I feared they had too much bounce at first, even reduced -- but I just played confidently and aggressively and was surprised how versatile they are. Excellent out of bunkers and rough, too, as you can imagine. I play in N. Texas in not exactly lush conditions. Lots of drought.

 

I aslo have a set of Edel Trapper Grinds in 55 and 59, which I thought I'd use in very tight conditions, but haven't had to use them - the Miuras feel more solid. I keep on wanting to use the Edels but the Miura keep performing and are more pleasing in feel.

I have a full set of K’s and really like them. But when conditions are hard and tight I go my C & Y grind set up.

 

K’s excel is rough or sloppy conditions....and sand.

 

To sum up:

 

Typical conditions with rough and normal fairways: 52, 56 & 60K.

 

Hard pan/very tight grass: 51Y, 55C & 60K.

Y grind for tight fairways. Launch my 2 iron miura blade with Y grind from virtually burnt brown fairway in the mid of the summer without any issues at all.
