On the telecast they said he made an equipment change to get back on track. I'm assuming they meant ball, since these look pretty much like the same clubs he always uses.

I don't have a problem with Bubba at all.... Hell some of the better players at my club act like arrogant jackasses too and Bubba is getting better with his temperament the older he gets.

He needed to stop playing the Volvik ball so I'm happy to hear that experiments over

What exactly is the deal with his undisclosed “illness”??

Last year when he was losing weight he specifically said in an interview that it was deliberate. That he had changed his diet radically, but very clearly said it was purposeful.

http://ftw.usatoday.com/2017/04/bubba-watson-weight-loss-diet-tips-20-pounds-before-after-picture-masters-2017

Now he’s gained the weight back, looks dramaticly more healthy, and is obviously playing better, but he’s saying he had a mystery illness that caused him to lose the weight. What gives?? Something clearly doesn’t add up. It’s completely contradictory.

https://www.golfdigest.com/story/bubba-watson-thought-about-retirement-over-health-issues-feels-better-is-in-contention-at-genesis-open

Was he actually suffering from anorexia and doesn’t want to talk about it? He was either lying last year, or he’s lying now.

Maybe he had an illness. The meds reacted with sugar. So he had to go on weird diet. Now hes better.

He likely wasn’t feeling well and tried to overhaul his diet in an effort to feel better/improve his health

How about he was sick, didn’t know what the hell was wrong, didn’t want to talk to the press about it and now he feels better?

Seems to be pretty standard to me.

Who? Me? Unequivocally not the case. Exactly the opposite. Big Bubba fan.

I am genuinely interested in the reason why he looked like he was weeks away from dying last year and now he looks great and is threatening to win.

It is certainly not because he went on a new diet. I was wondering specifically if it was his mental health issues that could have spurred the weight loss.

I had a whole thread about this if you want To know more about it.

I had it locked because of too many ignorant angry comments by people that don’t understand mental health issues and sadly think they shouldn’t be discussed or are somehow shameful.

Bubba struggles every single day. I find it impressive that he can make a living playing golf given his internal struggles. It has to be extremely difficult.

Most People that don’t like Bubba don’t really know his whole story. Here’s the other thread if you want more info on his mental health issues.

i like bubba. he's a far more interesting watch than 95% of the rest of the tour.

he's skittish in public and flies off the handle sometimes, but he sure seems to give back a lot to his community, which means a lot more to me than busting on some obnoxious fan.

for anyone that doesn't like bubba, i sure hope they have nothing but disdain for rahm, tiger, etc.

Bubba's win got me to check True Temper's website to see if they were still making the BiMatrx. They are! It must be the oldest-design shaft still in use on the Tour. Would they still be making it as a production item without Bubba? Does anybody else use one? I remember the sensation, when Tiger in his prime tested it with some apparent seriousness.

The 1st guy to really get the Bi-Matrix on the map was David Toms. I think he may still pay it in his 5 wood.

I was at the Atlanta Athletic Club in 2001 when he won the PGA Championship . The Hole in one on 15 was hit with his 5 wood with a Bi-Matrix shaft
