I was interested in 'upgrading' from my J15 CB's to something newer. Went in to hit the JGR CB's.

They look fantastic, but I didn't take the time to hit them, because I'm not used to seeing that much offset. Maybe not Ping G20 levels of offset, but there is a lot there. So, if you are used to looking down and seeing offset, these could be incredible for you. They should launch very easy for this type of iron. Literally everything else looked perfect about them.

The TourB X-CB was a little closer to what I was looking for, but I hit the J15 CB a bit better, so that ended my iron shopping for the year.

Anyone game these? I've been wanting to demo them but none of my local golf shops carry them. Would love to know your thoughts.

I just picked up a set off the bat, 4-AW with recoil graphite shafts. They get here Thursday, I'll post an update after I get to hit them. I bought them primarily because of the shaft and hitting similar looking heads.

It is going to be extremely difficult to find a better Players CB then the J15CB. There is really no Players CB that matches their incredibly soft feel and excellent forgiveness. I've looked...lol.

That said, the new X-Forged might actually be a contender... it looks fantastic. The MP-18SC will feel incredible but lacks the forgiveness the J15 boast.

I'm looking for more of a GI forged set than a players' set. I currently play a cast GI set with a little offset, hit them great, but miss the feel of a forged club. My first set of irons were Mizuno MX-25, and those were butter when middled. I've played cast irons since then.

First round with the new JGR irons. Great clubs. Hit a few shots I could not hit before. Passive brag alert. 200 yd 4 iron from the fairway bunker on the green. Another 195 yd 4 iron from the other fairway over a tall tree to the front edge of the green. A number of other pured irons and wedges. The look is great from address. They have the same offset as my 2012 TM Tour CB, but a thinner top line. The gap wedge looked a little odd, slightly taller look. I think it's just how it looks, same dimensions as my TM gap wedge. After one range session, now I don't notice it.

Super happy and excited about the new irons.

JGRs or the newer Tour B? The JGRs aren't exactly new... unless you are referring to "new" to you...lol.

Offset on the 2012 TPCB PW is 2.6mm . Offset on JGR CB PW is 4.0mm

That's a significantly different look.

Hmmm, offset looks basically the same to me. I'll have to take pics later as I'm out of town right now.

Do your self a favor and try the 545s, of my 45 sets I have owned of all types and brands maybe the best overall of the bunch, Also half priced of new model which are identical, I have been demoing Hot Metals,900 forged, AP3s and a few others and none perform all around for me as well as my 545s,4-p,c-taper lite.

  • 3 months later...

I'm not gaming these irons because I just heard about them last night, lol! Bridgestone needs to beef up their marketing.

I like the offset, the 5 iron thru gap wedge set design, the shafts, the forgiveness, the lofts, and the look. They seem geared exactly for me.

There's just one problem: I've got a set of G25 irons now and as much as I'm suddenly intrigued with the JGRs, I don't see myself scoring better with the B-Stones.

But a heckuva classic, sexy looking iron.

Make that iron a little longer and a little more forgiving and you might have me.
