PING replacement I200/G700

Recommended Posts

Whatever they replace the i200 with it won't be going in my bag. The i200 is iron perfection for a mid handicaper like myself. When they drop the price I'll be buying a couple more sets.

I have played the G series now for 12 years, first with the G5's and now with the G25's. I'm a mid teen handicap, who do you think the i200 would change my game? Typical low fade ball flight.

two questions: when is there a replacemnt for the I200 coming out?

2-what handicap is the G700 made for?

i200 replacement is due late summer.

April 2019 would be in line with their usual release. i200 was April last year

I200 were announced 1/16/17. Easy to confuse when GolfWRX starts talking about something and the official corporate release. i200's were discussed here much earlier than Jan 2017, so it feels they have been around awhile.

http://www.golfwrx.c...ngs-i200-irons/

So if they maintain 18 mos cycle, July 2018.

They have gone longer on successful releases. The S55 had a long run. The i200 appears to have been very successful, so perhaps they will run longer and fill in with a 700 tour.

I played Ping Eye 2's for almost 20 years and bought G5's in 2006. Great club and really respected Ping for not having to always try and keep up with the Jones'es. It was almost 10 years between the Ping Eye 2 and the Zing.

and they went about 50 years backwards with that model

The i200 is a very forgiving iron on par with some earlier G models. With that said if you struggle with low launch and hitting fades the G400 or G700 might be a better fit . I would definitely demo them all and see if you would benefit . The G25 is an outstanding club itself I wouldn't expect to see huge differences.

Ping already has a players distance iron out, it is called the Ping I200 with the Power Spec. Many people think they need to come out with a iron that competes with the TM 790, if you talk with Ping they will tell you, that they already do, ask any Ping Rep......Also, the I500 will have two types of loft, the standard, and a power spec...Due out this summer. Release could get delayed, because I200 is very popular with he tour staffers......

I have hopes it will be a direct replacement to the i200 & competitor to the TM P790.

What I'm saying is that when Ping releases the update to the i200 (i1500?) I hope that it will be a smaller version of the G700. I know that i200 as of right now is the comparable iron in the Ping lineup to the TM790. I have not seen any photo evidence of the i200 replacement as of yet so I don't know what it will look like.

Not sure if the Ping tour staffers have any input on the release cycle of new Ping equipment but I suppose anything is possible.

I was at the Ping facility here in Phoenix this morning getting fit as a winner of the G400 Max driver testing here on GolfWrx and I asked about this mystery iron. From the fitter, the manager of VIP fittings, just gave me a grin and nothing else.

Did you ask for release dates?

No, I did not want to disrespect my time at their facility today and push any boundaries.

Has anyone received their G700's yet?

I know release date is the 29th but I thought...maybe.......?

Allegedly another poster did in another thread. His were shipped directly to him, however. He had pics that seemed legit.

Yup, got them in on Friday. They shipped directly from Ping. One range session on Sunday, I am very impressed so far!

Any news on the i200 replacement? Edwin Watts has the i200 on sale!

$100 per club brand new with the AWT shaft. Not bad. Some used sets on the Bay are priced higher.

As well you should be! I always have liked the i E1. I really could play it or the i200 or maybe even the iBlade. But I feel the i200 is the best option now if I can get a decent deal. And really, $100 per club is not bad if I can get the shaft I want. Can be limited with Ping.

I won’t care if they replace them this summer. I have played a lot of golf with new old stock marked down because something new came out. The i200 will remain one of the best and most attractive Ping irons ever. People say it looks like the old TM Rac irons of around 2005. I say that is a compliment because I gamed those and they were really good.

But to me, the i200 gives the milled cavity concept a more modern look, a little more stylish version than the TM.

Maybe the big RAC OS certainly not the RAC MB or CB

I typically skip a series with Ping, and I still really like my Ie1s. It’s almost time for a new set so I am curious what’s coming next, hope I can hit those and the i200s side by side to make a good decision

I had the RAC LT and that is what I was thinking of. Great clubs.

Watch Players this weekend....heard some staff might be playing them. Forged version of g700 with forged wedges...maybe they are trying to compete with their former engineers at PXG.

That’s not a club that interests me, I love Ping for their cast cavity back clubs. I have played the S59, i5, S56 and the iEs. My dad had a set of the Eye 2s I always wanted but my first real set of irons was the 845s. I grew up with cast clubs and that is what I have played best with, I have tried forged blades but they are not for me. I am good enough to play them but I also am good enough to know what I am best with
