I may be forgetting some. I'm happy to elaborate on the specifics of any of these.

How was it playing with Tiger?

In a word, a circus. He was 16 and we were paired in the Southern California Amateur. They played the first two rounds on Friday and then cut for the weekend. It was a long day and as it wore on his gallery got bigger and bigger. I admit it made it difficult for me, I wasn’t ready to play with someone who drew that kind of attention. Tiger was courteous to the two of us playing with him, but he had that “I’m better than you and we both know it vibe” working already and Earl was there reinforcing it. I missed the cut and he went on to win and shot the course record over the weekend.

You weren’t the first and you weren’t the last. That’s a cool story, I wish I lost to Tiger.

I've volunteered at both PGA and LPGA tournaments, so I will omit famous golfers.

At the 2014 Curtis Cup, I was serving as a course marshal for one of the match play rounds. I saw a tall, distinguished looking gray-haired gentleman talking to my wife off in the gallery, and it turned out to be retired U.S. Senator John Danforth.

The senator urged me to leave Illinois an move back to Missouri.

Played at Portland Country Club. Pushed a drive into the woods. Go to find it and there’s a guy with a rifle in the woods in a suit. Turned out George bush was playing golf that day too, and that guy was secret service. Got to say hi to him and shake his hand. That was cool

I thought you were going to say it was Ted Nugent...

Not very impressive, but 4 years ago or so played in some charity tournament that Steve Spurrier and Connor Shaw partnered up on. Was on the range in between Tommy "Two Gloves" Gainey and Jim "Soni" Sonefield (Hootie and the Blowfish drummer). My swing looked better than two gloves, but he strikes it on the center every time somehow. Also in the field was Thomas Ravenel. He acted like a tool as expected. He literally changed shirts twice before the tournament even started while everyone was hanging around at the cart lineups. Must've been sweating out the night before, or that morning.

Unrelated but about 6 years ago I was playing a poker tournament in Vegas and knocked this dude out and he silently got up and walked away. Everyone at the table was like do you know who you just knocked out? I said no idea. They were like that was the fat guy from the tv show Lost. I was like oh ok, I've never seen the show but I know who you're talking about haha.

At least in my area (south Jersey) Eagles territory.... I remember being on driving range, at my course and a gentleman turned around and said “nice ball” turned out to be Mike Quick, former wide receiver; member at my course. Before even making contact, having such a distinct voice Philly fans would be very familiar with, was pretty cool to hear that, actually felt surreal, then have a little chat with one of the kindest former NFL greats to play the game in my area, made my day, now share a “greeting/partial chat whenever passing on the course.

In 2005, I was working in Miami. I played one Saturday afternoon after working in the morning and ran into OJ Simpson in the snack shop before my round, and after his. I was buying a Gatorade for the course, and he was having lunch and watching some sporting event on the TV.

At the time, there was a big story in the news about a search for a missing girl. The TV news broke in and announced that the girl’s body had been found. OJ had the remote on his table and turned up the volume, then made a bunch of comments, (out loud to no one in particular), like “ What a shame”, “How could someone do that to a little girl”, etc. It was quite a surreal moment.

I would've said out loud, The same way it was done to an adult girl....and man.

A few years back I arrived at my Friday evening league and could tell something was up, there was a crowd of people near the clubhouse. One of the guys in my league came up to me and mentioned Curt Schilling was teeing off on the South course ahead of our league. OK, that's interesting. My first thought was he must have lost a bet or something since the course we play at is hardly the nicest one in the area and you would think he'd have connections to play at some nice courses. During my match, I hit my driver a little left on the par 5 5th hole. As I'm looking for my ball, I see the group playing the 6th (which is a par 5 coming back in the opposite direction). I find a ball in the rough that's not mine, and yes, it was Curt's, so I wave over to him and let him know. And nope, his sock had no blood on it.

Second one was a near miss. At my home course teeing off as a twosome and the pro asks if it's OK if another twosome joins us. Sure, no problem. So we're waiting around on the first tee and no one shows up. After another 5 minutes or so, the pro comes back around and says we can go ahead, the other twosome went off on the back nine instead. He also mentioned that one of the twosome was Joe Bellino, Heisman trophy winner from the Naval Academy. Well, that would have been cool...oh well.

When I was 14 or 15, I played golf at Cape Neddick Country Club (in Maine) at the same time President George H. Bush was playing.

My parents picked me up after my round and they got to meet him and shake his hand.

Secret Service was out in full force on the course and in the parking lot, while he was on the grounds.

Vinnie Jones

Michael Pena

Clint Howard / Ron Howard

Blake Clark (The Waterboy, Joe Dirt)

Jose Conseco

Used to play with Vinnie quite a bit but I ended up retiring and moving far away from L.A. Haven't played or seen anyone famous since moving to Southern Oregon though supposedly Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Army Of Darkness) lives around here somewhere.
