Best vokey grind for a digger?

I have a 52F sm6 and 58S I think both 10 bounce. I love them but can still dig a bit at times if there's a damp lie. Wet lies take all of my concentration. End up try to pick it. And before you say change strike, I'm a really good chipper/scrambler. Play to 7-8 hc and it isn't because I have a great swing.

I am a digger. And yes, K grind would be the default answer.

 

But, I will say that my home course has very tight turf and very little rough and I have had good luck with the 58 degree M grind. Took a practice session or 2 to get the feel of the grind, but very happy with it now.

I’ll give one a try. I’m a digger. I played a 58* M grind bent to 60* for a few months last year. It Added a couple degrees of bounce. I liked it but wasn’t in love with it.

 

The only issue with the K grind is that it’s worthless on really firm ground or firm bunkers If you want to lay it open a bit. Skull city. Dive for cover!!

The new D grind is like the M grind, but bounce goes from 8 to 12. You can still open it up with the leading edge sitting flat due to the grind.

It depends what you want it for. The K, D, F(14 degree) or even a 56s grind bent weak are all options.

It sounds like a cross from between the V grind and the high bounce M grind from wedgeworks. I own both and I’m not I love with either one.

 

Perhaps if they had a baby It would be the D grind and I’d love it.

Probably a K grind, but really it depends on your turf. See if you can get a shop to let you take a couple different ones out and hit them on the course. That's really the only way to find out which one works best for you.

S grind in 58 and 54 with decent amount of bounce is just fine for me. Tested M and K (just can't get comfortable with that at all) as well when I got fitted, but so many variables.

i like sm4 vokeys.

i dont think they even came with a specific grind, at least not one that's mentioned on any labeling.

if i can find a new/likenew sm4 ill buy that over the sm5/sm6/sm7 offerings all day.

so much nicer imo.

These are the best wedges I've ever played for my game. You almost couldn't chunk them but also weren't scared from a tight lie. I despised the glide wedges from ping and love the sm6's I have, just looking for that little extra to make them perfect.

How about a 56 S bent 2 degrees weak? Changes the bounce from 10 to 12.

Buy either a Bridgestone J15 or a Nike x3x Toe Sweep. They're both a K grind with heel relief.

I have low bounce K grind in my 60 from wedgeworks. I had the previous K grind from wedgeworks that I had a trusted club maker grind a little off the heel. I'm not even a huge digger. I just like the forgiveness from tough buried lies in the rough and from the sand. The original K did struggle off firm fairway conditions, but was much better after a little grind work. I've had no issue with the low bounce K from tight lies.

I have not found this to be the case with my K grind 58 yet... In SoCal there are no shortage of firm fairways and bunkers, you just have to be mindful of the turf condition and not get lazy. I tried a 56M grind for a short time and much prefer the K... I guess I kind of feel like I can get down into the ball without worrying about a chunk too much... It's been way more versatile than I expected.

For most players, the K grinds are probably well suited for sand shots, especially soft sand. But from various turf scenarios they can be problematic and might require a lot of discipline if one's swing is not inherently suited to the K grinds. But the same is true for some M grinds. Bottom line, what works for my swing will likely not work for yours. I've got M grind TVD's in my desert bag along with a custom K grind 60. They work for me after a lot of trial and error on the range and a good deal of course practice.

 

So, while I do like them a lot, I wouldn't just outright recommend them to anyone. Wedges are simply too swing style dependent. I should add that one reason why I like them so much now is because I had the stock toe hang adjusted by a professional fitter. Made a huge difference in the turf interaction.
