My Trackman Stats

Recommended Posts

A new simulator place opened near my house - so I went for a range session. They have trackman, and its cool because you can create a free account and then email reports to yourself that give all your data. Below are my driver swings. I know many of you are data people, so my question would be that just by looking at the numbers, are there any areas you can see for improvement. I really think i can gain some more carry by tweaking a few things, but am not sure where to focus. AoA? Spin (which i would assume is related to AoA)? My goal is to consistently be hitting it 270 total...as you can see I am not there yet and would love some help.

See attached image.

Thanks in advance for any tips!

Your launch angle is way too high(over 15* avg. for your SS, more like 11-13 is appropriate), and the spin rate is high as well(would rather be in the 2000's). The easiest way to lower both is by decreasing the loft of your driver.

Is your driver adjustable? I would lower it a degree at least. Or better yet, since it looks like you have a 10.5* driver or higher based on your swing dynamics, demo a 9* with a high kickpoint shaft.

What shaft do you have in this driver?

See tour averages below. You would want a slightly higher launch than them due to less swing speed, like most of us!

Also, if your goal is more speed, work on getting more flexible. Here is an article from a couple weeks ago on strength and flexibility for speed:

Good luck!

I’m no expert, so take this for what it is worth.

AoA looks like one thing to work on. From what I understand, negative AoA increases spin, so creating a positive AoA should bring your spin numbers down into a better range. Launch numbers also look high early on, but the second half of the swings look to be in the right range.

Second thing just looks like consistency of swing/strike, combined with maintaining the clubhead speed you showed in the final four swings. The link I posted is from another thread, and shows carry/total distances based upon different swing speeds.

What driver are you currently playing, i.e., loft, shaft, length?

You spin it a bit too much as others have mentioned. I wouldn't change my swing on my own to change AoA...that can be a recipe for disaster.

Would look at the characteristics of your club first, then if you want to chase AoA, lots can be done with just small changes in setup and ball pos., etc. without a major swing overhaul.

Thanks for all of the feedback. A few things I should have noted were that I was attempting to change my AOA for some of those swings, which resulted in some of the crappier stats. Also, these were the first swings I took all season, and as you can tell I was just getting comfortable in the later swings in terms of swing speed, typically I range between 102-105. Most of these swings were around 99, bc I was more focused on hitting it than anything else.

My driver is a 2016 Great Big Bertha, 9.0 deg, with a Oban Isawa Red 65 Stiff (04) shaft. It does have the adjustability to go +2 or -1 deg, so I will try going -1 and see what that does. I agree that trying to change my AOA could be a huge project - I am not really trying to do that, but I always like to tinker so I may experiment.

Any suggestions about my driver setup? Thanks again for the feedback!

Perfect, thats a nice club. So the launch angles near 20* must be really high on the face. If possible, remove the glaring mis-hits from trackman for a better average reading.

Here is your current shaft specs: 3.6* torque is fine, but it seems like a lower spin, lower launch shaft is in order first. this one is mid-high launch(low kickpoint), and mid spin.

S 04 .600 .335 46″ 3.6t 66g MID-HIGH Launch MID-Spin

Look for specs similar to a Diamana Whiteboard 60 stiff. Same torque and weight, with a higher kickpoint, for lower launch & spin.

Or go even more stout with an aldila Rip Alpha 60 stiff.

Give that a whirl first. Change the club to fit you, not you to the club!
