Golf brush that does not destroy towel?

Recommended Posts

This may be a really odd request but I have always kept a club brush hanging from the side loop on my golf bag. It is on the same hook that my towel is attached to. My carry bag only really has one loop. The brush keeps destroying my golf towels. Is there a brush out there that is firm enough to get the crap out of my irons but will not "snag" on a golf towel?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Bring a kitchen brush. Same use, no metal bristles. You know, metals vs fabric, metal usually wins.

Other options, new towel once a season; new bag with more loops.

I actually use a kitchen brush.

Frogger towels are also very good

Why don't you get a towel that doesn't fray from the brush? I don't know what brand it is but I have one of the bag towels with the big hole in the middle. Many clubs sell this same brand with their logo on it and they cost around $25. Super sturdy. I have been using it for over three 3 years and no frays or rips.

get a frogger brush and put in the all-plastic brush replacement instead of the metal/plastic one. I've never had a problem with my towels getting destroyed and i have used them for many years on the same carabiner.

The frogger has been the only consistent thing in my bag for the past 4 years.

I use a grout brush, works great, bristles firm as all get up:

That looks interesting... and cost effective. Will check into this option more.

That is an option but many folks have given me golf towels from their travels... my most recently destroyed towel was from the Master's... The one before that was from St. Andrews.

I just use ones like these and connect it away from where I hang the towel. Doesn't have to be nearly as far away as a brush with a longer handle.

I think I am going to try this first. Thanks for the suggestion. I had not seen this one.

Didn't know there was an all plastic option. That may work as well.

Get a Spotless Swing Towel from their website or Amazon that has like a brillo-like material inside part of the towel to clean a club - best towel I've owned.

I broke two Frogger brushes - cracks easily - no more.

been using a cheap, (under $5) pack of plastic bristle detailing brushes from home depot or lowes; believe they come in 10 packs or something -- they never destroy towels and honestly, losing them is a 'who cares' thought...

I like these. they dont clip to anything but I just keep it in my pocket while I play

D-Brush Pocket Golf Club Groove Brush 3 Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002ZAKOHM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_XzsQAbAJ33R6N

Eeeewww. Yuck. Dirt and mud going straight in the pocket. No thanks.

LOL. how deep of hole are you digging with your clubs? the bristles are so short that it doesn’t hold any dirt or mud anyway. my pockets are clean, but hey, poo poo a product without actually trying it. sounds reasonable

I also like the D brush. And to the squeamish: its bristles are short, thick, and hard (and I hesitate to put those words together with "short") - no dirt.

I dig freaking trenches! Big giant 8 inch beaver pelts flying all over the place when I hit the links!! Women and children screaming and running for cover!!

That little pocket brush would be completely coated in crap in 3 holes here in Ohio in the spring and then going straight in my pocket. No way. Not for me.

I also have tees, ball marker, pitch repair tool already in the pocket. Definitely Not adding anything else to that party.

My brush is connected to the same loop as my towel, and I walk & carry I'd say 75% of the rounds I play.

I have never had any issues with the brush bristles damaging my towels. I'm super confused as to what's going on with your setup.

my guess is probably that it’s one side brass bristles that get bent and basically become metal velcro loops that grab the loop fibers of the towel. if you have a stronger metal brush whose bristles don’t deform or plastic bristles only, no issues.

I'm going to look at this problem from a different angle. Add additional D-rings to your carry bag and your problem is solved. I bought a set of Fabcaddy Golf Bag D-rings from eBay for each of my bags that only had one D-ring. They snap onto the rain hood snaps. They have female connector on one side to connect to the bag and a male connector on the other side, so you can still connect your rain hood if necessary. They mostly black with a choice of webbing colors to match your bag.

Just wet one end of a towel and use a tee if you really need to get in the grooves. No need to complicate things with a gadget...
