Rory worked with Brad Faxon on his putting this week.

Eamon Lynch just said on Golf Channel that Rory spent a couple hours with Faxon this week.

He’s number one this week in strokes gained putting. Must have been one hell of a lesson. About time.

Interesting. Hopefully Fax can help him. I always thought Rory putted best when he was experimenting with left hand low. He seemed to always give it a pure roll when doing that. Obviously he was never all that comfortable with that as he didn't stick with it. When he putts conventional he always seems to finish very high. He thins more putts than any world class player ever should. That messes with his speed control and his confidence IMO. I hope he finds it. When he is in full flow no one can hang with him.

Won his majors using a 34.25" putter. Then had the great idea of going to a 33". Didn't putt well. Goes back to a 34.25" version and leads the tournament in strokes gained putting. Genius.

Turns out Rory can putt. He just had to stop thinking about his stroke, and start thinking about rolling the rock to the hole. No process, just hit the ball into the hole.

He just needed to realize how good he can be with the flat stick. Confidence.

We'll see where this takes him for the next few weeks.

For those of you who don't know, Rory's SG putting of 10+ means he took 10 fewer strokes on the greens than the average player at the API. Heck he was 5 better than Tiger, who putted really well.

Rory jumped from 124th in SG:P this year to 23rd in a single week. Wow.

Faxon's putting was always great, except under pressure. One of his big thoughts was that he "didn't care" if he made the putt. That is a hard mental trick to pull off when the tourney is on the line.

Very impressive stuff from Rory.

Rory had a breakout round because he was overdue. Things came together.

Faxon. 8 wins and no majors. Faxon.

Sure. Pure coincidence that he met with Faxon and his putting went from absolute shite to #1.

I agree he was overdue, but sometimes you need some help to straighten you out. Nothing wrong with acknowledging the guy who helped you.

Nike drivers got worse, not better over the years. One report said that one of the reasons for the increase in driver distance last year was due to all the Nike players moving to Callaway or TaylorMade.

Frankly, Nike equipment was horrible. However, I will specify that as far as our store, if you wanted "Nike" we would do our best to talk you out of it, unless you were willing to pay for Nike OVEN, which was the premium Tour side we had access to. Different feel, materials, and incredibly more expensive. You know, the stuff that worked.
