My one complaint about the book is that all of the pictures are black and white, and they are sometimes not labeled very well. However, you can figure things out with some thought.

Agree with this. Also, there are some layout/editing problems that were overlooked in final proofreading. Otherwise, I am really enjoying this book.

Just came in the mail and I’m starting Section 1 right now. I appreciate his approach to the swing and how he instructs. Can’t wait to see what it does.

I think his YouTube Q&A's would be better if he did separate ones for "Swing Nerds" and "Regular Folks". On today's YT there were some interesting questions that went unanswered due to time constraints (they will be answered in the next YT), but time was spent on some technical questions (COM, some other things) that were over my head. In the book he carves out a few short sections that are for Swing Nerds, and guys like me can skip over them.

Having separate YT's would allow him to dive into the technical for those with that interest, while going over less-technical things for others.

It's a good book but I prefer the paid website which is an absolute goldmine.

Agree - the website is great. Happy with my book purchase also.

How was the YT live thing from today?

I thought it was great and anyone not watching is really missing out. A lot of the topics were very timely for me and he even answered my question.

I concur 100%. Regarding the other poster's concern, there was only one "technical" question about center of mass out of all the issues he addressed from listeners. Hardly a fair criticism and not a justification to change the format in any way. Ferrell is an excellent educator and I don't think his writings or presentation could be any better. My wife, who has never swung a golf club, enjoyed watching the entire Q&A program last night and said he explained topic points extremely well.

There were a number of questions that went unanswered, and the discussion closed with a KM spinal engine discussion - I consider Kelvin's stuff in the same category.

If every post on this board was just "That was great!", this would be a boring board. Hence my comments about the YT and the editing issues with the book. I've paid for the book and for Tyler's site, so I am not commenting about something I haven't paid for.

After a 5 year hiatus(main golfing buddy moved for job, was very sad but I'm picking it back up going solo) I first wanted to re-educate myself about the golf swing before just jumping back onto the range. I have the advantage of not really having a grooved, consistent swing so starting out with a "clean slate" will be helpful.

I'm about halfway through the book(also recently re-read Hogan's, Tiger's, and a few others) and I'm loving the technical breakdown of body movements and how it affects swing path/club face.

"Commit to yourself right now that every tip you try from this day forward will change the face, the path, or both"

Seems like such a simple statement but can be easily lost when working on WHAT you are trying to do and accomplish with your swing. Also loved the steeps/shallows explanation and how different body movements affect the path of the club. I'm definitely feeling much more confident about understanding the golf swing and my own. The Jackson 5 drill paired with Monte's drop the ball I feel have really hammered home the weight shift/transition feel for me.

Speaking of Monte, from watching your old grainy videos in 2012 I was really happy for you as I came back saw you've "made it big." Always loved your instruction and glad to see it's helping many others.

So what’s been everyone’s experience so far when implementing these moves? Have any of you seen a significant amount of improvement in any parts of your game?

Well, heres my plan, to be implemented once it stops raining:

Swing issue: low point issues, flippy, get steep in transition, upper body moves toward target in transition

Swing Fix: Add Jackson 5 move, motorcycle move, and shallowing move (the Sasho?)

Results... TBD.

I may not do the J5 move, and replace it by kicking out my lead knee (external rotation/squat/drop the basket type move)... in practice swings it seems to keep my upper body back while allowing a nice front knee post up when swing is done.

I didn't think people are going to see significant improvement a few days (or several weeks) after reading a book no matter how good it is and I'm pretty sure that was not Tyler's intention. For many of us it's going to be a process of determining what needs to change and ingrain new movements in order to take a better swing to the golf course.

Here are some of my thoughts thus far about the book. With my lifelong tendency to stand up on the backswing (left shoulder going up), the concept of left side bend, spine extension incorporated with a solid turn puts me into an ideal backswing that I have been searching for. I guess I am good enough athlete where I was able to hit the ball fairly straight, but with considerable loss of power. It is very frustrating to hit the ball solid with a driver, yet still be 15 yards+ shorter than my golfing buddies.

My mindset is to take my time and go through the book in detail. What I have found, is the website is the perfect compliment for the book. The book can be a little too detailed at times (or perhaps my current limited knowledge), but going through the videos ties everything together. I highly recommend the book along with the use of the website.

A week ago, I had never heard of Tyler Ferrell or his book. I am very thankful to this site for mentioning him. Trying his concepts with much success in the simulator. Northwest Ohio has not blessed us with the perfect swing. March 21 and I look out the window to see snow. Best of luck.

I wasn’t thinking immediate improvement more so just any improvement since determining any faults. I am still going through the book and need to figure out where my faults are but I’m excited to see where it takes me.

I would think Ferrell would say improvement is gradual and I think he lists how to gauge it although I'm not sure if that's my memory of the book or his video. Do it on the range, the range in front of someone, on a practice round, etc...

My recommendation for anyone who wants to dive deeper is to subscribe to his site, and take an online lesson. His rate is very reasonable.

So in your opinion (speaking to those who subscribe to his site) it’s worth the $147/year one time fee vs the $240 spread out over the year?

Yes to $147 unless you only expect to be a member for 7 months or less.

On improvement, I had a lesson from Monte last Oct. and then with iteach in February. Focus was transition/downswing. Going from steep to shallow.

Joined Tyler's site late Spring. Focused on shallowing and motorcycle with a bit of jackson 5. Zorro loops, hands high/club head low, more relaxed arms, motorcycle (for me from p3-p4 - tried during transition but just isn't me). Once I started to shallow (and incorporated his driver swing drill ) I gained around 30 yards off the tee and at least one club with my irons.

This year I've started in the last month to work on improved transition - so left tilt, AMG guys step drill. I started to actually take divots - want to improve low point control this year - where as before I was a classic picker - steep, EE, extend right arm at ball, pick it clean .

So I had a natural place to start. I've made some little tweaks to my takeaway/backswing but more in line with the transition work I'm doing now - I used to have a very flat backswing with little left side bend so it's a process adding it in - and I'm starting ulnar deviation - delivery& go, and pump delivery.

Just looking for more consistency and better low point control this year.
