I removed the paint-fill from my set with the intention of re-painting with white. However, I may just leave them naked.

Played today in serious wind.... these played excellent. Very easy to flight down or hit 3/4 shots. Loving these so far!

How do these compare to the Titleist AP2’s or CB’s?

couple threads: looking like x forged can hold its own...

Personally, I found that the x forged has better feel. Oddly enough, I got better distance WHILE maintaining spin numbers. These new grooves on the x forged are pretty awesome. Forgiveness... hard to say because I can thin either one! LOL

They look great like that

How do you remove the paint? Thanks

Acetone and patience, haha.

After swabbing the paint-fill with a Q-tip and then digging out the paint with an Exacto knife (took about an hour for one head), I had the brilliant idea to put the heads in an acetone bath. After 15-20 minutes submerged the paint-fill comes out easily. Although, I had to resoak each one for an additional 5 minutes or so and dig out some tough spots.

A few notes....

1) Find a bucket or container that will hold acetone as it can melt some plastics.

2) Put the irons in and then fill, making sure not to let the acetone touch the ferrules (it will melt/deform them).

3) The paint-fill in these irons is thicker than what I've seen with other irons, therefore it is a little more difficult to remove - be patient.

4) Use something sharp (Exacto knife for example) to get into the tips of the paint-filled spaces.

5) The finish on these irons is slightly porous so the removal process takes a bit longer. I also removed the fill from one of my 2018 Apex MBs. The removal process was much easier on the chrome heads.

I just switched to the x forged from MP18 and I love them. They are easier to hit and feel just as good. The X Forged UT is better than the Fli Hi to me!

Played 9 again today and just absolutely flagged my irons again today!! Its been a while (probably since I sold my '13 x forged) that I've gotten along this well with a set of irons. I'm still amazed at how easy it is to work these, but also maintaining a good level of forgiveness.

I went to our local demo day today. Callaway only had the 7 iron for the x forged..... I was letting a few of my buddies hit my irons. They both got quotes for new x forged irons.

This is a joke right ? Can anyone honestly say these are better in anyway than the last x forged ? They look like trash, feel cheap, and I love callaway. Just my opinion.

Well, these are all one piece forged with no plastic glued into the back like the last ones...

I liked the 13 x forged as well, but these are pretty dang good. Without another set of them around to go head to head, who knows.....?

Well then, I guess I'll be selling mine. Better yet, I'll just break them over my knee and toss them in the trash.

All this time I thought they were really good irons. :dntknw:

I am trying to figure out how to make a blended set using the X Forged and the X Forged utilities. Has anyone come up with a good one? The UT lofts are a degree higher than the corresponding iron lofts, which makes it tough to come up with where the set would split. Maybe I'm just overthinking it though!

I went with the MP18 Fli Hi in the 3i and 4i. They're a bit stronger in loft but the gapping works out. Went with these mainly due to cost as they're about $100 cheaper per club.

I went with 7-PW x forged and 27/30 UT for my 5/6. I play hybrids in my 3/4 slots. I am just playing first rds with this set but I really like it. I came from an apex/apex pro combo set - only club I am losing forgiveness is in the 7i.

Is the 27 equal to a 5 iron, distance wise, or is it longer? Just curious as I'm considering it as a 5i replacement. Distance control is an issue with my Apex 26* hybrid.

I was able to hit the X Forged UT 27* outside, and liked what I saw, but only hit a few balls at the end of a long day, and with a shaft I'm not enamored with.

Thanks

For you folks using the X-Forged UT as long irons.....how the launch and spin?

I have used a couple of driving irons that were great off the tee but could be tough to launch off the turf. What kind of ball flight are you seeing?

Also, am I wrong for wanting there to be an X-forged AW? The Apex Pro's had one, right?

Don't think you're wrong there at all. One of the minor reasons I'm selling my set. I just like my 50* club to match my set. YEARS ago that was basically my pitching wedge, and I guess I just still like the continuity at that club/yardage.

One of the reasons I went Srixon Z765 instead of XForged.

No gap wedge sealed it for me, even though the 765 GW is pretty much a blade.

If Cally had a matching GW I would have had a very difficult time choosing.

As it is, I’ll probably pick up a set used down the road, they’re so nice!

I use my 21* UT as my 3 iron. I don't consider it a driving iron... I consider it a long iron. I feel that I'm hitting it higher than I would a normal 3 iron and it has stopping power on the greens. I don't care for hybrids so I really can't compare.
