Discussion Thread: The 2018 Masters

GolfWRX is live this week from The 2018 Masters at Augusta National Golf Club (par 72: 7,435 yards) in Augusta, Georgia. The course was designed by Bobby Jones and Alistair McKenzie and first opened for play in 1933.

 

The field this year, which consists of only 86 players -- the smallest field since 1997 (also 86 players) -- is headlined by four-time champion Tiger Woods. Although he hasn't won The Masters since 2005, and hasn't won a major in a decade, Woods is still one of the favorites to win this week.

 

He's joined by the best players in the world, including Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth and Dustin Johnson. Of course, McIlroy needs a Green Jacket to complete his career grand slam. Johnson, currently ranked No. 1 in the world, comes to the 2018 Masters after not playing in 2017 due to a freak accident, and JT looks to win his second-straight major. Spieth, on the other hand, will simply be looking to add to his Green Jacket collection.

 

Sergio Garcia, after winning his first-and-only major championship at the 2017 Masters, comes in this week as the defending champion. He won in 2017 after making birdie on the first playoff hole against Justin Rose. Will he slip a Green Jacket on someone else this week, or will he defend the title?

Anyone else notice that Woodland is wearing Nike shoes? This is very odd considering his Under Armour deal. I noticed this in the pics on here and went to Getty to verify.

 

 

 

Funny you saw this.we were sitting in the stands watching him warmup and noticed too. Behind me was several college players commenting on it also. Must have been some college tourney this week or past weekend as they all had on their college polo shirts with logos.

Not just you! Was just scrolling through all of the pics, and was thinking, "Where's the rest of Fred Couples?" Good for him - I can't imagine the extra weight was doing his infamously bad back a world of good.

Truthfully, it's literally impossible to pick a winner. Too many guys are hot and candidates. (But I think I'm going to pick Watson if I haven't already used him in my fantasy league..)

Wish some of these photos were available without the watermark. Reason I say so is because the masters.com site had some great pictures as backgrounds on the site for years, but they redesigned it this year and it is very bland.

I was right next to him on Wednesday on 7 tee, and I'm not going to lie, he looked sick to me. Not good weight loss if you will. All the guys I was with thought the same thing.
