Just read the MSG article. Diamond type coating like Cobras forged tec. Nice. It’s by far the most durable black coating so far.

Apparently they do. MSG article says they believe they will only be available in a 4-pw. Lofts are 22-46, but no loft printed on club.

 

 

Slightly revised sole design for better turf interaction and revised progressive center of gravity weighting. Interesting.

Try the demo program. $20 bucks gets you a mid and short iron to try for a couple weeks and they come with a return shipping tag to send them back when you’re done. You can actually hit them at a real grass range for a number of days. Best way to test.

 

I ordered the PTx demo clubs 2 years ago and I knew within 10 minutes of hitting them I was going to order them. Been in the bag two years now. Best irons I’ve ever played but I was very close to getting the Fort Worths. I really like them as well. I may seriously now consider a blended set, especially if the PTx is offered in black. 4-6 in PTx, 7-P in Ft Worth. Maybe throw in a couple Equalizers.

Oops. Hummm. Yeah. That complicates things. Maybe just find an inexpensive used set on the Bay. I imagine shipping is always a problem.

Both PTx and Ft. Worth are both extremely nice.

The MSG article did say they changed it substantially on this black version, “to enhance turf interaction”, so you may get your wish to some extent.

 

I doubt they got rid of it. I’m betting they toned down the angle on the leading edge bounce. It is pretty steep on the current models.

I actually really love the current v sole and was disappointed to read they were changing it on these. Potential deal breaker for me. I reached out to Tyler at Ben Hogan who has been great to deal with and helped me quite a bit in the past and he says it will be the same v sole that is on the ft worth 15s. Obviously not everyone's favorite but makes me very happy.

You would be surprised. They are far easier to hit than most people would think.

 

There is actually some significant perimeter weighting built into the design, it’s just hidden well.
