Original Nike blades

Ah my specialist subject :D I've had a set in the bag since 2004, and am still really struggling to think of what to replace them with. I also moved across from a set of 300 Forged, and if I'm honest, I actually found them easier to hit than the TMs, especially in the long irons. As mentioned they do have weal lofts, and the shafts are half an inch shorter as standard, so I was a club shorter than the 300s, however I solved this by taking an extra club :)

All shafts are DG - R are R300, S are S400 and X are X100. Mine have S400s and I love the balance of them - great for tempo and I don't feel like the head is trying to carry on at the top of my backswing like the 300s did if that makes sense.

I also picked up the 1 and 2 iron. Don't carry the 2 iron much, but the 1 iron doesn't leave my bag - perfect for when I need to find the fairway 220 yards away.

As you can probably tell, I'm a bit of a fan :)

The Dee Three - Titleist TS4 9.5 deg, EvenFlow White 6.5 65g, A1 Setting

Henrik - Titleist 917 F3 15 deg, Rogue Max 75x, B2 Setting

The Walking Stick - Titleist 818 H2 19 deg, Rogue Max 85x, B2 Setting

The Interloper - TaylorMade P770 3 iron, S400 Tour Issue, +0.5inch +1 deg loft

The Blades - Nike VR Pro 4 - AW, S400 Tour Issue, +0.5 inch

The Sand Iron - TaylorMade MG2 TW-12 Grind, 56 degree, S400 Tour Issue

The Flopper - TaylorMade MG2 TW-11 Grind, 60 Degree, S400 Tour Issue

The Putter - Nike Method 003 from The Oven

These clubs would set up very well for my pet project loft gaps. Set the 3-PW at 22° to 50°, add an 18° 2 iron and off you go.

I never even knew these clubs existed till I was on this site looking to see people's idea of the best blades. I was always looking at mizuno or the vr pros.

A week later I've got myself some original nikes !!

I play the tm 300s half an inch shorter anyway and I think the lie angle is a little flatter. I find the tm easy to hit so I can't wait to try the nikes.

Sweet I'm looking for a 1 or 2 iron not sure where to look though. I've got a tm rsi udi 3 iron but it's just too chunky for me at address

Sadly you may have to wait a while for an Original Blade 1 or 2 iron to come up as they are like rocking horse poo - I had to wait 3 months for the 1 iron to be delivered from Nike, and that was when they were available new. Well worth waiting for however. Pretty sure I've seen a couple of VR Pro 2 irons floating around the 'bay, so may be worth a look.

Oh and if you are in Manchester you have no excuse in not taking them out :) I'm just down the road in Stafford, and mine have already seen plenty of use this season.

such fond memories!

The first blade I ever hit was the original Nike blade ( 4iron ).

My pro gave it to try and I pured it.

That opened my eyes to the whole world of blades, glad I hit that iron that day!

Yeah I'm in Manchester weather isn't great here either.

And I'm I love with the look they are beautiful. I was going to book the day of work and go to the range but my missus answered the door and I got "oh more golf clubs" so I think I better earn some money so next time I can book a delivery slot !

Grow some balls man and get out there! (im in Stockport).

My FW7 GPS trolley, new wedges and Cobra F8+ arrived the other day, Mrs didn't say a word .... ;)

My wife doesn't say crap about the golf clubs I buy online. Mainly because I get home from work 30 minutes before her

I live in NYC, and the apartment is probably smaller than some closets you guys have! Any extra stuff gets called out right away, especially if it’s golf related. And there are only so many irons you can “store” in the car... :)

I'm still gaming my original Nike forged blades. I bought them mint-used 3-PW way back in '04, my dream irons back then and I'm still loving them today. Absolutely the best looking blade EVER to me. I have 2-PW. I ordered the 2i brand new from Nike about the same time. The 1i is truly a RARE beast, have never seen one for sale on ebay. I used to work at a golf shop back then and tried every forged demo 6i in the shop and the Nike blade won hands down as the best feeling, and that still holds true for me today.

I used to play the stock DG S400 shafts, but I just put in NS Pro 950GH regular shafts this year since my swing speed has gone down over the years. I now game only the 5-PW. I'm also still gaming the original forged wedges too. I know the irons and wedges aren't conforming the the current groove rules, but I don't play in competitions so it's not an issue for me.

Easy to shape and hit high or low.

I agree best looking blade I have seen

Thought I'd take a quick pic of old faithfuls - some of them have seen better days but I like the "patina" :) Note the unicorn 1 iron sitting at the top of the bag. And no, it isn't for sale....ever :)

I have dropped the PW and put a 50 degree Engage in instead - barely any shorter on full shots but more versatile round the green.

How about the 2 iron ?

If you have one.

I took mine out for the first time today they are sweet, not lost any distance if anything I've gained a couple of yards which is strange.

I think I might have to get an old school Nike bag for them too. why not ??

OP or others any update on your OG Nike Blades?

Also, what do you guys think of these? Possibly fakes? _**https://www.ebay.com/itm/Nike-Orginal-Blades-Iron-Set-3-p/372762694809?hash=item56ca635499%3Ag%3AT7IAAOSw0Gpdc%7Ent&LH_BIN=1**_

* No view of serial number or shaft sticker

* paint and ferrules have been modified

Harder to tell since there is no lettering on these. Thanks.

Don't think they'll be fake but look like they've been refurbished, pretty sure I can see Project X labels on the shafts so look like they've been reshafted too. Not a fan of the ferrules or PX shafts if I'm honest, but that's more of a personal preference.

They look like a good deal to me with those shafts if they work for you. Very nice headshape. Only downfall is they aren’t conforming , but that doesn’t matter unless you plan to play in USga events.

Yep, VR Pros also worth a look. 2 degrees stronger in loft than the OG's, so travel slightly further and have a flatter trajectory, but feel just as awesome. They're even better if you can find a Satin set as they will be from Nike's Tour Facilities (The Oven, now Artisan), but they are the true definition of rocking horse droppings. I found what looks to be a set (Satin finish, but no serials so can't confirm), but that was completely by chance - I bought the first set of VR Pros I could find with S400s fitted, and didn't discover they were Satin until they were delivered - they took 18 months to appear for sale in the UK....

So if S300s work for you, bite that seller's hand off

So I pulled the trigger and bought the VR pros listed above. Interested to see what happens @bladehunter @bodhi555 I’m thinking about maybe flatting lie to -1* and Increasing loft +1. That way the weaker lofts won’t be a huge big deal.

I’m also thinking about adding 1/2” to length since I seem to have dinosaur arms?? But, not sure I want to ruin the original Nike grips just yet!

Congrats, that is a fine set of irons you've purchased. On the lofts I'd be tempted to leave them as is - the VR Pro PW is 47 degrees, so gives lots of options for wedge combos.

Other than that I'd be tempted to take them to a fitter and get them adjusted so they work for you.

Otherwise - enjoy

Hi all! Hoping to find some information regarding this blades. I've recently picked up a set from Ebay in pretty great shape and they have a "B" stamp on the hosel. I cant find any information online about this outside of a "B" stamp Taylormade iron that apparently was a tour issue?

Does anyone have a solid idea on what the B stands for? Is it a Tour issue marker? Is it for a "blemished" model? For reference the irons start with AA and the serial number is much more faint than the B. image.png.491f0e4b9835db19c38dad78ac21b53b.png
